I'm really glad the reunion was a great one, and that you all had a super time. I couldn't attend, thinking I had the flu. It turns out I had something much more serious, and I spent 5 days in a hospital following emergency surgery. Everything seems to be OK now.

I was really looking forward to catching up with so many old friends. I have enjoyed the message forum and all of your comments.. Keep it up!!!!

Bill

Bill,

Sorry you had to miss the Reunion, especially under such dire circumstances.  Hope you are on the mend.  We are going to be keeping this website up for quite awhile, so drop in anytime to reconnect with your old buddies and friends.

Diane

Cissy,

We sure wish we could have found everyone that there was, but some were very illusive and some just didn't want to be involved with High School, anymore.  Sad.

Does anyone know what happend to Joe Wright?

Bonnie Whitlock (Thompson)

Sammy, I have an address and phone # for Joe Wright.  It has been several years since I and my husband has heard from him, but I can give it to you if you would like.  I could e-mail it to you. He worked as a cement driver for years in the Sacramento area and lives there still, I think.

Forsythe,

Truly sorry to hear about your plight on reunion nite -- some people will doanything to get attention (the cast on my wrist worked wonderfully).  Thank goodness you're mended.  Please fill me in next time we see each other -- or e-mail me -- or.....  Can't afford to lose guys like you.  Stay well, old friend.

Hey, Cissy,

I was in the Band in 11th grade with you, until I moved to the orchestra. I could play OK, but I didn't like the marching.

You probably don't hnow this, but I learned a valueable lesson because of you! At the start of school our junior year I had a girlfriend (not Carol) who was in 10th grade. She was asking me about my classes and who was in them... When she asked me who the cutest girl in the band was, I told her you were (because, well, you were!)

It turns out that she really didn't enjoy my honest answer. But, it was true. I have enjoyed reading your entries, and I hope you are well.

Bill

This week I went to Martha Colbert's memorial service. My wife Karin was hired out of college and went to Silverado Jr. High as a teacher in 1967. That was the luckiest move in my life. Anyway she became good friends with Marty and Lavon and they have stayed close to us all these years. Another lucky move came this week when this really old looking guy named Alan Baracco stood up and spoke about Marty's influence on his life. Unlike the rest of us, Alan has changed a lot but is still very friendly. Hopefully now that he is registered he will receive this message of which you may want to add some of your stories.

Thanks,

Bob

Bill Forsythe,

If memory serves me correctly, Carol was a Pepperette?

Diane

Bill Forsythe

Hi Diane,

Carol was indeed a Pepperette, for many years. She started at 5yrs old.. Some of our early dates were going to parades and competitions. She was also a majorette at Napa High in 11th grade, but dropped out because of her commitment to Pepperette stuff. Thanks for remembering............

Bill

Sharon Mc Kane (Halstead)

I was also a Pepperette for many years with Carol.  We went to many competitions together, including Phoenix where we won National champions and Seattle, where we also won National champions.  Vicki Whitbey was also a Pepperette.  We will all miss them both.  Also, Loni Fleming was a Pepperette and her brother, Lewis, was in our class.

Diane Raymond (Ball)

Yes, Bill, I remember her also being a Majorette for our band in High School.

Bobbie, didn't realize you were a Pepperette, too.  Vicki, it's sort of coming back.  Vicki and I attended Pueblo Vista Elementary School.  She was my best friend, back then, but we lost touch.  :(  Carol and Vicki are sorely missed.   Too extremely nice people!

Jan Neely Coats,  I just remember the majorette's name I was trying to think of.  :)  It wasn't Janet Holmes, it was Janette Cole.

Hi Sharon,

I do remember you, as well as Vicki and Loni. Also, Patti Stadler and Louise Kosloski. And, of course, Barbara and her mom. Carol loved all of you. Probably my favorite picture of her is one in her Pepperettes costume from a Christmas show. Makes me a little sad, but she was beautiful.

Sharon, I do remember you being a Pepperette, as well.

Bill, Carol was beautiful inside, as well as, outside.

Ok, my memory is very very bad. So I need to ask.....what is a Pepperette?

06/10/14 06:05 PM #345

Bill Forsythe

The Pepperettes were baton and dance performers. They were very well known around Northern Cal. They were directed by Barbara Mercer for many, many years. They were in every parade in Napa for as long as I can remember.

Thank you, Bill. I lived in Napa from 59-66. It's just gone from my memory.

Bill-I would love to see the photo from the Christmas Show.  Could you post it?  I have some old photos too, I could dig out, if you like.  I remember Barbara's mother always walked along beside us in all of the parades.  I think Babara married a man named Lloyd, who was related to the Claus's, who owned Buttercream Bakery.  Does anyone remember Steve Myers.  He went to Westwood and was a great dancer in high school.  Does anyone know how to get in touch with him?
