Hi All,

Just returned from an extended vacation & I'm delighted to see you're all still keeping in touch.  I picked up my mail today & spotted my souvenir from the reunion.  Looks good at a glance.

Burt, I want to hear more about breeding your hybrids........or was it the aromas of your breeds......or?????

Burt, I moved up to Buhl, Idaho after I retired for three years. Raising cattle , hogs and hay. My family has had a large farm up there for generations. I found out I had colon cancer and moved back to Ca. for better medical care. I loved Idaho while I was there. I never thought I would get bored with fishing, but up there I sure did. I caught so many trout. I don't want to see another one.lol

I can totally relate to your wife, Burt.  When we were visiting our kids, who live out by the old Stead AFB, Craig said, "You  know, we could buy a lot 'n build a house here." to which I replied...."How much do you think plans, for a studio apt. would be?"  He laughed, but got the point. lol.  Having a house in Napa 'n here, in SoCal is plenty....in fact, too many.

Has anyone heard from Larry Adams or our other American Canyon located grads?  A 6.0 quake is a big deal when your close to the epicenter.

Is there power, yet in Napa?  (It's about 1:00) I'm reaching friends with cell phones, and not those who only have land lines.

Brian,

I contacted Larry Adams, and he and his family are all fine.

Still trying to get hold of Margo (Lanpheir) and Jim Holland.  I've left a message on Facebook and on their phone, but no reply yet.  They recently moved into a Mobile Home Park, I'm hoping it's the the park that had all the fires.

Seems like most people are all right from the quake.  Only damaged glass items.

Thanks Diane, I can worry less.  How did it feel in far away, Solano County?  Did you have any damage?

Diane, I wanted ask you, is there a way to use our reunion picture, as our Forum picture?

Brian,  Do you mean as an individual or for the group heading?

I'm not very good at transferring photos to the computer from my camera.  Sometimes, it works, sometimes it just frustrates me.  :)

For anyone concerned about Margo (Lanpheir) Holland (she was in our class and Jim Holland, he was a few grades ahead, and they were at the Reunion, they are both fine.  They were in the Mobile Home Park that had the fires with no water!!!  There deck will need some repair, but the neighbors' home next to them is down to the ground, don't know if it caught on fire or just crumbled.  :(

This was a BAD ONE, folks!!!!

I'm glad I've releaved your anxiety, Brian.  It was a really bad one.  My younger brother, Bob, still lives in Napa over by Fuller Park.  They receives extensive glass damage and a glass cabinet fell down right on the dog's bed, thankfully, the dog was able to get out in time and into their bedroom.  They are both fine, as is my niece, who lives just around the block.

Yes, WE felt it in Fairfield.  It went on for a fairly long time and it was a shaker.  I have these double-doors into my bedroom and they were just shaking.  I had woken up just seconds before it started at 3:20 a.m.  We had no damage, but one could surely tell they were living through an earthquake.  We had one earlier this month, too, but it was a roller and it was shorter in duration, only shook the doors twice.  I was lying in bed, so I was fine.

Thanks for asking.

I hear it went as far as Chico!!!!

Brian,

Larry Adams is fine.  He wrote to me that he worked the 8 am to 8 pm shift at the Red Cross Shelter at Crosswalk Church on Sunday 8/24.  Good man.

As soon as we heard about the quake, we left for Napa.  We have 3 properties here, 1 we live in, part-time, 'n 2 in escrow to be sold.  The vacant properties look ok, but pending inspections.  The house we live in, on Linda Vista Ave.,  is another story.  The living room fp's chimney went down, taking part of the roof w/it, our new gate 'n part of our neighbor's fence.  The fp in the dining room, didn't fall, but has many cracks 'n we're pretty sure it'll be red-tagged, too.  Inside, the Grandfather clock was face down 'n literally came apart when it was righted.  Same with a curio cabinet.  Every room look like a diaster area.  Our son 'n daughter-in-law, came from Reno 'n had it almost all cleaned up, by the time we got here, yeterday (Sun.)  So thankful for them 'n that everyone's safe.  What we lost, is ONLY stuff 'n you can replace stuff.

Hi Brian,

It was pretty scary, lasted a long time.  I'm fine and we just have a few new cracks in our ceiling, but rather minor compared to what the folks in Napa are experiencing.

Felt another big aftershock, around 4:30, this morning.  3.9

Paula,

How was the rest of Pueblo Vista track?  I lived on Marjorie Dr., just down from Linda Vista.  Glad you have people who can help you.

Bob Benning, how did you survive the quake?  Are you all right?  Lots or little damage.

Sandy Swearingen didn't fare so well.  I've put in a call to her, but haven't heard back from her, yet.  She's pretty shaken up by all this.  She and Margo both live in the Mobile Home Park where the homes caught on fire.  Margo and Jim are fine, but there deck will need repairs.

Diane:

Pueblo Vista looks pretty much unscathed, however, they have dumpsters in front of West Park School, that have been hauled away, replaced, hauled away again. Doesn't look good there, 'n up the street from the school, the streets off to the left, you can't even get through, due to lots of work trucks blocking the way.  A home on Baywood also lost it's chimney.  It seems as if the quake went down Linda Vista, jumped across Redwood, to the Arygle St. area 'n hit homes all the way up the Vly.  My bff, Judy Gage Cook, lives one street over from where the fires were.  She said The Red Cross has been there w/breakfast, lunch 'n dinner since Sun.  Good to know.

My parent's home, just around the corner from West Park School, had no structural damage. Lots and lots of broken things inside.  My Mom and Dad built our home 1950-1 out of basalt bricks with rebar and more concrete poured into the holes. My brother Don has been helping Mom and Dad clean up the mess. My mom sent me this video that shows downtown destruction.  I'm so glad my Dad did not choose those little red bricks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQhYbfIz0n4&feature=youtu.be
