Connie, Pam and I were fast friends at Big Shoal Elementery School. We lost touch for a year when my family moved closer to North Town. We reconnected at the high school and shared great times on the Pep Squad bus to away sporting events. When she was killed in the auto accident, I couldn't understand why this had to happen. My mother insisted that I come home from Mizzou to attend the funeral. I think I thought if I didn't go, it might not have happened. I miss Connie to this day.
Connie and I grew up next door to each other. A drunk driver killed her going back to Springfield to college oour freshman year. . It was a tragedy that reminds me daily that each day is a gift. Her parents never recovered from her death. I often drive by our homes and think of the fun times we had.
