Bill Langley was another of my outstanding, influential teachers. He had me very involved in his chemistry classes (and others), but (sorry Mr. Langley) he also helped convince my that chemistry was not going to be my career. I think of him everytime anything remotely connected to chemistry come up.
Bill Langley was a very important teacher in my life. His influnece marked the turning point of my conversion from a high school student to a college student. I came to understand that his chemistry class was college level and if I was to be successful in college I must be seccussful in his chemistry class. After I graduated from Medical School I returned to tell him personally how he shaped my life and how greatful to him I was for his mentoring. I will never forget him.
Mr. Langley was not only a pretty good chemistry teacher but a good baseball coach as well. I recall that in his class he communicated that it was the student's responsibility to learn, not just occupy a seat in class. If I had listened to him closer, I would have had less difficulty in some of my college courses!
