I agree with my CHS charter class-mates to postpone this BIG one until 2021 so as hopefully to allow most of us out-of-staters to attend!  & John kudos and thanks to you for all your efforts on our behalf :-)

Unfortunately because of Covid, I am not able to attend either.  We have a new grandbaby coming and I'd have to be quarantined and would miss his birth.  I am all for reschedule to 2021!  Thank you Jihn for your continued work as our class president!  Good job!!!

Good Morning Friends and Classmates. I have also been looking forward to the reunion. I've been in contact with a few close friends, and have been having fun following the music/concert thread. Regretfully I  agree that we should attempt to postpone until 2021. We live in Virginia and who knows the level of quarentine we all might be facing this Fall. My nephew lives in Cicero and has just decided to postpone his October wedding as well. Please, everyone be safe, and hopefully we can gather together....and hug. Regards.  Deb Green (Wilcox)

Gary & Rautenberg (Rautenberg)

Although I had been looking forward to the reunion, regretfully, my wife and I will not be traveling this year and will be unable to attend.  Ordinarily, we spend part of the summer and fall at our NJ house, but this year, due to the pandemic, we did not leave our Thousand Oaks, CA home and will not travel until some time in 2021 when safe to do so.  Should the event be postponed, we would certainly enjoy the opportunity to attend at a later date.  Best of luck regardless of the go/no go decision.

Best Wishes, Gary Rautenberg

I agree that we need to postpone our reunion until next year so that more people feel comfortable and can attend.  This pandemic has left us with so many questions and uncertainty so best play it safe.   Thank you John!

Thanks everyone for your input and observations. After speaking with many people including Marty Borio, I have cancelled the September 50th Reunion. It is so ironic that our class should face this adversity. Many years ago we suffered through double sessions and the fact that our class was split in two!

Now the good news! Marty found us a date for next September! So the official date for our 50th Reunion is now Sunday, September 19th, 2021!  Maybe we can plan a picnic for that Saturday. Let's take the time and try to think of any events people might have an interest in! I did speak with school officials and school tours may be a possibilty. Maybe even a Friday night football game to attend? Please use this forum to discuss some desired events!

Everyone stay safe and healthy this year! Let's make our "Fifty Plus One" Reunion the largest reunion ever!

Right call to postpone. Disappointed but every day brings more challenges so safer at home. Hopefully more can attend next year. Stay safe everyone.

Good morning John, I understand your decision better safe than sorry. We'll just be a year older and a little grayer.

Good move to change the date John!  Even as an essential employee, being from from SC and dealing with the contact tracers and their requirements is a less than pleasant experience this week.  Look forward to seeing everyone in September 2021.  Glad to see so many responses.

Sorry to hear it's been postponed but "discretion was the better part of valor" in this case.

I'm sure we can do some sort of special weekend postings or the like.

Bring everything up to date, etc..

Greetings to all!

The musical threads seem to be very popular. That being said, what is everyone listening to these days? I can admit that Ilike lots of what is called Country these days. Also the genre Americana is a favorite. But what really makes the hair stand upon my neck is most of the late 60s early 70s classic rock!

Hope everyone is staying healthy and remember to be kind!

Fins up!

John

I don't listen to much music but lately I have been listening to Elvis Presley or Pop from the late 60's - 70's in my car. Also occasionally while at home I listen to the country music of the 70's & 80's .

Good Morning to all. John Wilcox and I are listening to a lot more music these days. John has also been listening to more Country style music. I'll mention the Americana style to him. I, like most of us enjoy music from late 60's and 70's. I have discovered Carolina Beach Music and really enjoy it. The main reason I wanted to respond on this music thread is because a friend mentioned the music documentary, "Searching for Sugarman." It's really interesting. I recommend it. There is a twist in the plot, so please don't go researching much about it before you watch. I'm glad the decision was made to postpone the reunion, and look forward to seeing everyone next year. Stay safe. Deb

I listen to a wide variety of music, rarely on the radio.

Recent artists found in the van for those long drives through Nebraska, Kansas and Montana are:

Apollo's Fire - old, old American music, pre-bluegrass, do tunes like St. Claire's Defeat or Johnny' has gone for a soldier.

Music of the High Renaissance in England.  Dowling, William Byrd, and Thomas Tallis are the best!

Gus Cannon and the Jug Stompers

Kraftwerk - The Re-Mix

Wall of Voodoo's Call of the West

Ethiopian Funk from Hailu Mergia

Assorted traditional Yemeni singers like Ahmed al-Sinaydar and Ahmed Hamood al-Harithi

Thin Lizzy's Jailbreak and Black Rose

And heavy metal or stoner metal groups like Fu Manchu's King of the Road, Motley Crue (a guilty pleasure), Dimmu Borgir (STORMBLAST).

Rod,

Will have to check some of those folks out! I thought I was out there listening to Robert Earl Keene, Jerry Jeff Walker, Todd Snider and Keith Sykes!

Led Zeppelin is my heavier go to along with AC DC!

I have a weakness for live music no matter what the genre!

Rod Henry

Hard to go wrong with either Zeppelin or AC-DC.

As for live music, I always liked the free shows at that little "Empire Stage" at the State Fair.

I remember seeing everything from Lionel Hampton to a really young and apparently intoxicated Hank Williams JR there.

NO WAY!!!  Hank Williams, Jr., intoxicated???

Check out Greta Van Fleet. Young kids that sound like Zepplin. (And Rush)

We like Entrain too. Lot like Little Feet.

We saw a Queen tribute band last year that is called Almost Queen. If you get a chance check them out!

George VonPless

I listen to Sirius XM, various stations, and "The Dinosaur" in the car, At home, it's the variety of Spotify, online, as well as bring out the old vinyl and CD collection, once in a while.

The other day I heard the Doors' rendition of "Gloria" and I had forgotten what a graphic piece of music it was. Jim Morrison could really paint a picture!!!

Speaking of "out there" it was Rod who turned me on to Frank Zappa when we in Junior High. I think he had that "Phi Krappa Zappa" poster, as well!!!

Checked out & generally like Keith Sykes' Songs From a Little Beach Town album and Jerry Jeff Walker's Cowboy Boots and Bathin' Suits album. They make a good mix with Jimmy Buffet tunes, while layin' back, playin' lifeguard while the young ones tear up the lake. Thanks John! 😎
