FARRELL, Michael John
May 11, 1941 - October 7, 2024
Born May 11 1941 in Manchester England
Michael passed away unexpectedly at his home in North Vancouver on October 7, 2024.
Michael is survived by his partner of 40 years Jill Sloan his son Cameron (Lindsey) and their two children Paxton and Makenna and his brother Robert (Trudy). Pre-deceased by his parents Ernest and Anne Farrell nana Rose English and Carol Farrell (née Forin).
As a youngster Michael's exposure to the worst of WW2 in Manchester helped form the quiet introspective side of his nature and as his mom said " trained him to be a listener."
Like many Airmen, returning to life in England held no attraction for his dad (Ernest). So the family including his grandmother Rose decided Canada was their future. They immigrated to Canada in 1955 settling finally in Lynn Valley. Michael attended North Vancouver High School followed by work with , Fining Tractor and a long successful career with Chevron Canada roaming the Province. Retirement opened the door to a new chapter for Michael, as he began drafting and planning kitchens for Oscar Grann Furniture. He often remarked that his coworkers made every day enjoyable. A quiet and gentle man, Michael was known for his dry humor, particularly when he found himself near a microphone. Salmon fishing, cars, more cars, Mexico and USA highway runs were the things he loved. But nothing compared to his grandchildren, who brought an unmistakable light to his eyes and a joyful melody to his voice, filling his days with laughter and warmth.
He will be missed deeply by all, especially the Sheridan Lake "Anglers". and " The Lynwood" support crew.
A private celebration will be held at a later date.
