Colin Neal

Colin died on January 12, 2023 at 82 years of age.  He is suvived by daughter  Kerry and sons, Daniel, Tim and James. Grandaughters Aislin and Daisy. Grandson Kiran. Suspected cause of death was a sudden stroke.

Colin was married to our classmate Maureen O'Reilly, who passed away in November, 2016.  They were marrried in May, 1962.  Hopefullly, they are resuming their loving relationship.

Just two weeks prior to his death, Colin was an active participant in the classmates Zoom meeting. Clin was communicating from England.  Sylvia (Jones) Enga and Colin were actively talking about how close Colin was to the Six Bells Pub. in Billingshurst, West Sussex. As a child, Sylvia used to rise early and stop there for breakfast on the familty trip from London to Portsmouth.

Colin Montgomery Neal    May 26, 1040    -    January 12, 2023

On 12 January, 2023, Colin died suddenly and peacefully at the age of 82 in Kirdford, England where he used to spend several months each year with his daughter's family. Colin was born in Vancouver on 26 May, 1940 and was a loving husband to Maureen for 54 years until her death in 2016. After training with the Canadian Navy, he had a long career as a fixed wing and helicopter pilot before running his own small business. In his retirement, Colin loved to kayak and travel to see his children living in British Columbia, Australia, and the UK.

Colin is survived by his children, Daniel, Kerry, Timothy, and James, their spouses, Peter, Mark, Angela, and Jennifer and his three grand-children, Kiran, Aislin, and Daisy. We will all miss the silly old bugger!

Please let his family know that at our last Zoom Colin was full of happiness about his living arrangements at his daughter's home, full of plans for his future, including returning to Canada in the I think, later spring..  I am grateful to Colin that he kept up with us on the zoom meetings and shared his actual life with us.  Also, very sad that he has died.  love to his family.  Diana Davidson

During our first year at UBC, Colin used to pick up Gail Crickmay and me and drive us out to start our day. He always had good humor and kindness and I was happy to hear he had married Maureen O'Reilly who also had a sunny disposition and good will towards all. Sorry to hear of the family's loss and we will miss him at our zoom meetings and reunions. Glad he had many good innings. Cheers to all who knew and cared for him
