In Memory

Dawne Swaffield (McFall)

Dawne Swaffield (McFall)

Dawne's husband, Terry McFall, informed us that his dear wife, Dawne McFall nee Swaffield, passed away on Friday June 27 2025 in Chilliwack.

He stated "I am sure she was loved and is remembered by many of her former Classmates. Sincerely, Terry McFall"

Terry later sent us the following in response to a follow-up by Sheila (Brown) Ward.

Dear Sheila

Thank you for your message in response to my letter to Dawne’s former Classmates, sadly reporting her passing.

I could fill many pages of my life and Thirty five years of marriage to Dawne,  but I will just outline as best I can since meeting Dawne in the course of her employment in 1986.

I know little of her life in North Vancouver after leaving school.  I know that she lived with her parents in Edgemont Village, possible until she met and married Geoffrey Roger Teeple.  If Dawne told me how they met, I cannot recall. They may have gone to the same School at some time.  I do know that Geoff. became a Forestry worker in some capacity and that they spent many of their first years living on Señora Island, North of Campbell River.  I believe that at this time all three of Dawne’s children came into this world.  At some point they moved to Hope, B.C., where Geoff. continued in the Forest Industry.

In 1969 Geoff. was travelling as  a passenger in a helicopter in the Hope area.  He was conducting Forest evaluation when tragically the helicopter that he was in, collided with a Glider, resulting in each of the vehicles crashing to the ground and the death of all three persons, including Geoff.

I know that during later years, Dawne moved back for a while to North Vancouver and subsequently becoming a Interior Home Decorating Consultant for Woodwards Department Store.

It was around 1986, after I contacted Woodwards in Abbotsford, B.C., that I first met Dawne.  I needed to have drapes for my new home in Abbotsford and along came Dawne.  Although I was immediately very attracted to this beautiful lady and would occasionally unintentionally meet in passing at the Sevenoaks Mall, it was only after a couple of these unintentional meetings that I thought about asking her if she would like to meet up, but this time intentionally.  I actually phoned Woodwards and spoke to Dawne on the phone, feeling it an easy way to ask.

We were married in April of 1990 in Fort Langley, B.C.   During our Thirty five years of marriage, we took very many cruises together and saw much of the world in this way.  Dawne was my Soul mate and life time partner until her far too early passing on June 27 2025 at far too an early age, after a period of ill health.

I know that some many years ago, during our marriage, Dawne did attend a School reunion, but I cannot give details of which school.  I know that one of her former school mates, I only knew her first name (Sharon), met up with Dawne and another school mate, Marianna Murphy was one other.

A very short synopses of Dawne’s life, but at least some details post her school days.  I am sure that all that knew Dawne, knew what a kind and gentle person she was, and a very loving caring person to me at all times.

Thank you Sheila for asking about Dawne.  It is much appreciated.

Stay well and safe,

Terry McFall
