Happy Birthday Geneva (7-25) and Don (7-26). Hope your days are very special.

Congratulations Don and Geneva on another year of living!
Let's plan to wish each other Happy Birthday for the next 30 years.

Phyllis, we (wife, son, daughter) spent the 4th of July in Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1999. It's a small town on the banks of the Arkansas River. Most of the town's folk converged upon the river bank that evening for the fireworks show. We had a picnic and had a wonderful time. It was like a Norman Rockwell painting. We have the same experience when we spend the 4th in Davis, CA. I try not to stay in L.A. for the 4th. It as if people have lost the meaning and use the 4th for disruptive parties and illegal fireworks...

Carlos graduated from UC Davis so he and my daughter are down here in Los Angeles (they don't care for L.A.) for work this Summer (makes me happy). Sooo, our vacation trips are short ones up to the Sierras for fishing. Plus we're going to visit Gary and Lori Buice in Reno.

What are ya al' doin for fun this Summer?

Geneva Jacobs (Deyne)

Thanks everyone for all the birthday wishes.

Yesterday Don reminded me that I was 59 & he was 58.
But today he caught up, now we are both 59.

It looks like some are given up the "pirates life"
to be farmers at farm town. I thought I was bad
playing word games on pogo.com

Thanks again
"G"

Congratulations to Carlos O. on his graduation from UC Davis. He should be very proud of himself.

As far as fun this summer, we are meeting our boys and daughter-in-law in San Diego in a few weeks for a "family weekend." Also celebrating our anniversary (#38) and Damon and Karen's (#5). Looking forward to it. Love spending time with our boys.

Geneve, I like playing word games on Pogo too. I won't pay for membership, but play the free games. One game I play every day is Trivial Pursuit.

Marcia, have fun in San Diego. We are having a planning meeting Tues night will let you know what we decide. Pretty sure it will be pirates. I might let you just get whatever you want and for me too. Because I have a major case of Don't give a sh crap, not just for Laughlin but for everything. Not sure what's the cause because I don't give a crap. Don't know what's the cure because, please see above.

RE: Good Golly's Farm

Well, gang, I'm storing the plow and harness in the barn for awhile. Between being on the computer all day at work and then coming home and working on the Farm, I think I've pinched a nerve or something because my right arm is all tingly and kind of numb and has been for days now. Probably don't have enough wrist and hand support while working on the computer (ergonomics and all that)but, whatever, it seems to get worse when I plow, harvest, etc. playing the game.

So, for awhile anyway, it's back to the Forum for me, hi ho, hi ho.

(Just letting y'all know what the heck is a'goin' on if I don't respond to your Farm gifts and stuff on Face Book)

Molly

Molly, do you have an ergonomic keyboard. If not, it really helps.

(I'll get the pirate stuff -- just let me know. I think most of the stuff comes a dozen/package so we'll have lots. Let Linda and Diana know.)

Joe, I'm so glad you updated us on you and Brenda. Some of us have been wondering about the two of you. Some good things have come from the reunions/get togethers in the last year or so. Keep us informed.

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Molly, I know exactly what you are talking about with the arm. I have been wearing one of those tennis elbow bands because of the same thing. I use my lap top for farm town but as soon as I try to move the mouse around on the pad of the lap top it uses that muscle and hurts. I went to the Dr. and they put me on 800mg of ibprofen 3 x a day, all that just to be a on line farmer.
I'm alreay a real farmer, you should see our real garden at home. We have already picked some good veggies out of htere.

News of my mom, we were hit yesterday when we got to Creekside to pick her up for her doctors appointment. The nurse took me into a private room to disucss her situation, bottom line is they are taking her off all of the medications for Alzheimers as none of it seems to be working. It may even make her a little more alert we are going to see. The big kicker was when they ask us to re-consider the Full Code request and make it a DNR.
My dad came about that time and they explained it to him and he couldn't hold back the tears, it broke my heart.
They mentioned bringing in Hospice in the future to help with some things. Then we took her to her doctor appt. and the doctor pretty much agreed so we have some big decisions to make in the next few days. So sad to see this happen to my parents.

I keep trying to plug away at farm town but it's hard when you are gone all day with things like this going on.

I talked to dear sweet Lorene last night, and it looks like I will be coming down in Oct. so I hope we can have a big girls day at the beach again.

Love you,
Lynne

Connie Lenkoski (Nelson)

I will be retiring on Oct 30th. I spent 5 days in ICU with my daughter and the doctors took her off the kidney list again. Her sugar was 1000 and she should have been in a coman. The ER was suprized that she walked in. will I decided that it is time for me to stay home with her. Her heart on the lift side was showing a skip on the EKG and that is the side were her port is. We have to take her to WIS and see other doctors and see if we can get her back on the list. My job don't want me to go they asked me to stay but I told them I can't. When you take care of 100 Engineers and there like family it is hard to go.
We have been having really nice weather here. We have been working on our house and yard it really starting to look good.
Everyone take care and God be with you all.
Connie

Connie,
So sorry to hear about your daughter - It is wonderful that you are able to retire to help take care of her. And yes, it is hard to leave fellow employees they do become family. She is very blessed to have you with her. Our prayers are with you and your family and may she get put back on the donors list very soon. Take care.

Lorene BuSteed (Householder)

Hey Don, next time you guys go on a venture, let me know, so that I can invite myself to join you guys. Looks like you were having a lot of fun.

Yes, Happy Birthday to all in August.

Updates on Roland. It has been six weeks since he has been at work. The doctor still has him on disability. They are going to do a bone scan on him Thursday and he is supposed to be seeing an acupuncture doctor too. He is able to walk around, but at a slow pace. We will see what this next round of tests shows.

Connie, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family with regards to your daughter.

All I can say is, I hope that 2010 is better than 2009.

Looks like we will be going to Laughlin at the Colorado Bell for Labor Day weekend. The whole family is going. My son is going to teach me a few games on the tables as I always play the machines, although I did play a table game one time, did not know what I was doing, but I was winning a lot of money, then I walked away with the money in hand.

Everyone! Have a great week, I was just checking in.

Take care,

Lorene

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Lorene,
I hope things work out well for Roland and the bone scan, most of all I hope they can find something to help relieve the pain.

I wish I could join you in Laughlin, keep your eyes open for my son Dustin he will be there with his wife Kelly.

My dad and I are hanging in there as best we can. We made the big move to a DNR order today, and they are ordering a hospital bed tomorrow. They will call Hospice in soon, my mom can't remember anything but still knows that I am her daughter and that my dad is her husband. Thank goodness for that.

Hope the rest of you are all doing well.
Love ya,
Lynne

PS: Any news on the October dates yet?

08/05/09 09:13 AM #2564

Mirtha Camacho (Rayburn)

Lorene,
Sorry to hear that you are still having to deal with health issues in the family and that hopefully Roland gets better or some relief soon.

I also wanted to let you know that there is no need for you to invite yourself to our next venture to Gibson. I will make certain that I give you a call next time the vouchers are made available to me. In the past, I had only extended the offer to local classmates, because the vouchers are made availabe to me the day before and even sometimes the day of the event. I have literaly been hounding a Gibson manager for Steely Dan tickets, and he did drop a hint to me that I may get more than just for me since there will be 4 nights of Steely Dan. More than likely it will be week night, so keep in mind mid August if you would like to join us.

08/05/09 10:36 AM #2565

Pat Kuester (Bowen)

Just wanted to extend an invitation to anyone interested in a weekend in Laughlin. My Red Hat group has a bus leaving Friday morning October 9th (from Anaheim Amtrak) coming home Sunday October 11th. We have about 14 seats available and would like to fill the bus to get the cost per person down. We are staying at the Aquarius, but you could stay anywhere you want in Laughlin. Right now the cost per person for the bus is $109.00 but will go down if we can get more people going.

Mirtha, I did tell you that my favorite band is Steely Dan, didn't I? I am only kidding, you've been very generous with me in the past, so if the vouchers are limited give them to some other people. I can always sit at home and listen to them on concert night, I have every one of their CDs.

Lorene, Yes keep us updated on the October dates for Fender.
