I want to add my appreciation to all who worked so hard on setting up the bar b que 😜  Let's not wait another year. Who can host the next?  Step up pirates!  Sorry my place is too small & unfortunately my three labs control my back yard or I would set a date for April 2017!  It was a pleasure to spend time with old friends. Thank you again for setting it up ⚡️👍🏼⚡️.

Hello Everyone!

Lynne Scales Thurmann presented something to me this week.

I have not been able to post it as things have been kinda hectic at work with the beginning of school year and the unsurmountable problems we have had at the building due to homeless and a strange man living across the street from the CNTA building. Its sad that you have to safeguard the building when someone just walks in and tries to steal something in broad daylight while we were in the office and having the alarm company installing cameras and additional key pads in the building. Not to mention that he has broken in the building on the culdsac 13 times. Talk about being freaked out. Thingings are seemingly back to normal with all the additional secruity devices within the building.

Getting back to Lynne Scales Thurmann, well our 50th year class reunion is approaching. I have talked to several venues and they need hard numbers as to how many people will be attending, so I figure in January would be a great time to finally nail something down for everyone. Keep in mind, this is your class reunion and you will have a say where it is. There will be several choices to choose from.

Lynne wanted to know how many of you would be interested in going to her Lake House for a reunion? Its beautiful. This is in Coeur d'Alene Idado on the lake. There are lots of hotels/RV sites nearby. A person would fly into Spokeanne Washington.  If you are interested, please send me an email saying yes or no.

There are pictures of the lake on Lynne's facebook page.

Look forward to hearing from you: lorenetwin1@att.net - 951-751-5449.

Take care and love to all.

Lorene

That would be nice. If it is up this way we have extra room in our place and also have a couple of air mattresses. We would be glad to have guests. Spokane Airport is 40 minutes away.

That would be great. I live nearby in Post Falls, Idaho.

It is very beautiful there and as much as we would like to go I checked the flights and for us to fly out of Vegas to Spokane is not cheap.  So for us we would have to pass, however I know that everyone who attends would have a wonderful time and pictures would be shared.

We are in Walla Walla, so that would really be a nice venue for us.

Thank you Lorene for posting my invite to host the 50th reunion.I know north Idaho is a long way from good old PHS but I can tell you once you get here you will feel like you are on a vacation.
I know, Tom Fordham, Vicki Morley and Johnny and Kathy Maxwell will attest to that.
I hope things will work out.
Love to all, Lynne

Regarding the cost of flying into Spokane WA for a Coeur d'Alene , Idaho venue...it would probably be cost effective to fly into Pasco WA and drive the 120 miles further.  I think it would almost pay for a rental car if you use one of the specials Allegiant has.  Anyway, an idea to check out.

Marianna Brown (Schechter)

A concern that I would have would be if there was alcohol involved. Lynne, I don't know how far down the lake you live from Coeur d'Alene, but with a few drinks it could be a nasty drive. I lost a friend on that road a few years back.

Allegiant air might be an option, but they have a very limited schedule. Cheap flghts...very limited. From Mesa I could fly into Pasco on a Sunday and then back out on the following Tuesday or Sunday...that would be their schedule for me.

I will pass on an Idaho reunion.

We intend to atend wherever and whenever.

My vote for Idaho for our 50th would be no.  But I think it'd be a tremendous idea for an off year gathering.

While the sampling is small the since Vegas it seem a lot of folks wanted the 50th to be held locally so my vote goes there.

Of more importance at this stage, seems to me, is   do we have a rime frame in mind?

Looking forward to seeing a good reunion.

The 50th should probably be held where the most classmates could attend. Though we are scattered about the country, most of us probably still have some ties to near our old homes.

That's what I"m thinking too Vicki. And we did take a poll at the 40th and the majority people wanted the 50th to be in California.

1968 50th Class Reunion

No decision has been made as to the location of the Class Reunion as yet. We have plenty of time to arrange the reunion. From the responses I have received from classmates, the location of our reunion will be in CA.

Some locations I have been thinking about are: Hotels by the beach, Queen Mary, and the Mission Inn in Riverside. Do you have suggestions?

If I could get a great price for a California coastal cruise (2-3 day) would that be of interest to our classmates? It would have to be very affordable for our classmates.

Remember, this is your class reunion and the majority rules as to location. When we ask about a location, your input is essential and valued. Any and all suggestions are welcome ALWAYS.

So if you have a particular location you want me to look into, let me know.

Like I mentioned before, we should have a list of choices for everyone in January with prices and nearest airports etc. At that time we will cast a vote.

Please keep the dialogues forthcoming.

I want to thank Lynne Scales for offering her lake house resort in Idaho. Again, all suggestions are open and encouraged. It is beautiful Lynne, many many thanks.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I am gathering all current emails from our members, if you could kindly send me your emails to: lorenetwin1@att.net. Please email me also if you have suggestions and don’t want to post them.

Thank you all!

Love,

Lorene

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

I can understand the need to keep the big 50th reunion in CA. I spoke with Lorene, and we may try to have a small lake house party next summer for all of us that live here in the Northwest.
I know there were monies left over from the 40th reunion, and actually I'd rather not be involved in having to depended on those funds. Those were clearly marked for our 50th, so I say get them to Lorene so she can start making plans. It sounds like any venue you pick would be great in CA, I love the Queen Mary idea, or Catalina Island maybe. Two years is going to go by fast and for a person planning this big reunion.we need to get our information in to Lorene. Hope everyone is having a great summer. Lynne

Hotels by the Beach, Mission Inn all sound fine with me.  If the Dodgers are in town I know I'll be taking in a game and if anybody else is up to it we could do a group.  Thank you Lorene for putting it together and others who are assisting.  I don't know if I'd be much help up here but I'm willing if you can use help.

A cruise would be great.  When you figure in lodging and food a cruise can be RELATIVLY cheaper especially with a group.  I'd like to see Linda (Hernandez) Garcia's idea of a tour of the school dovetailed a day or two before or after the actual dates of the reunion.  Those already here and those who can spend the time would have an extended reunion.  And Tom Fordhams ball game idea could be worked in in the same manner. They could even be done with no OFFICIAL link to the reunion other than letting every one know about them.

As long as the proverbial creek don't rise we will be there.

And Lynne's place next year as a mini reunion sounds great.  Geneva and I had already decided to drive up (in a wandering sorta fashion) then come down the coastal route to visit some cousins in Puyallup and Portland taking how many days it takes to see a lot of the beautiful countryside up in that area.
