Mike, you are still making me laugh.

Hi Question for anyone with kids in the military?
How long did you have to wait to get letters from your kids when they were in boot camp?

Carol Maddex (Switzer)

My husband was at the hospital the day after the Octo brew
were born...The place was a zoo. I ask my Physical Therapist if my Co-payments were going up now that Kaiser has to pick up the monies and he just said OH no she has welfare....So there you go we Californian will be paying....I love the jokes.

03/14/09 06:37 PM #1896

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

OK then maybe this doctor that implanted the babies should help pay some of these hospital bills. Not fair that's all I can say.

One of my sons and his wife used Invetro to have their two sons, and they had to save all their pennies to pay for it as their insurance would not cover IV treatment.
So it really makes me wonder who paid for the IV treament, you can't be telling me that welfare covers that type of thing when a hard working couple who has good insurance doesn't get any help?
Go figure!!!

Sandra Harris (Lint)

The little Octomom had a good paying job at a mental health hospital. She worked double shifts alot. She said each baby cost about ten thousand or a little less. She saved an enormous amount to pay for insemanation of all her kids. I think she might have used some of it to pay for those lips, as well. She just has got herself into a real fix, as my Mom would say. But the babies need to be taken care of, regardless. They are innocent in this whole mess.

Now, I have a question. Waterfalls, why doesn't the water run out? I'm serious. Where does it come from in the summertime when the melt has pretty much melted away? I asked Don this and he just kinda stared at me and finally said "How do you think of this stuff?". Anyone?

Geneva, those dumber than dumb jokes you sent me...thank you! They made us all laugh like crazy people. What a hoot and a half!! Thank You all for any answers on my question...Sandi

Sandi,
They do dry out. You can see it when you visit Yosimite's Bridesvail Fall in August.

Hi everybody! I haven't written in a while. Peggy was very kind and called me. I had to have a heart pace-maker inplanted last week. My heart is very strong, thank God. But it's always had a slower beat than most people. That was good all these years, as my heart didn't work itself to death. But, the beats progressively slowed (my average was 49 while most people average 60-80). At night it would slow to much. So here I am with a small computer chip and battery in my chest. I plan on going for another 33-40years minimum. I started running again. Now, my high blood pressure. 40 years of hard work and overextending myself. I told Rosa, that it will take time to undo the 40 years of stress. I'm taking a Stress Management/Yoga class.
Gary Buice and Art Salazar called me. They're doing well. I went over to Ron Dumphy's (hangout) in Lakewood last month. He said that he'd like to see ya al', but will probably have his knee surgery done in May. If you saw him, you'd recognize him. Looks pretty much to same, gained some weight (haven't well all).
Here's a personal secret. I had a wonderful time in school. I still have night dreams that I'm still in high school (wishful dreaming).
Ya al' Do Good, Be Good.
Mark

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

First of all Sandi, thanks for the information on the Octuplet Mom and the fact that she worked and saved up money to have her kids. I too agree that now those babies need to be taken care of no matter what. It doesn't mean that I agree with all of it.

Mark, I wish you a speedy recovery. My dad had his first pacemaker implanted when he was 52 and he is now 83 and on his 3rd of 4th one. The very first one was huge, we used it as a paper weight. It's amazing how much smaller they are now, and the progress they have made over the years. You take care of yourself, and I will be thinking of you.

Lynne

Lorene BuSteed (Householder)

Mark, hope that you are feeling better. Pace Makers have come a long way. Years ago my grandfather had a Pace Maker implanted - of course then they were huge. You probably feel like a new man and not so tired anymore huh.

Love all your stories, keep them coming. Sometimes, I am just reading, peeking in for a moment with a smile.

Feeling much better, still coughing but otherwise I feel much better. Regarding my sisters and I's mother, she is doing GREAT! She gets tired, but otherwise she feels wonderful. Mom really appreciated all the cards she received from many of you and the warm messages they conveyed. - Thank you and thank you for your prayers and good thoughts. It really meant a lot.

Oh, I am getting a puppy on Tuesday (one of Maurene's dog) She is Lab and Shepard mix - her name is Georgia after my dad whose name was George. I am hoping that she takes after the Lab more than the Shepard as Labs like water and they like to swim. The grandkids will have a great time with her in the pool. I hope I know what I am getting my self into again. We've had two dogs, a Shepard for 15 years and a Chow for 15 1/2 years. It was like losing a child when they passed. They become so much a part of the family as well as they should.

Any suggestions how I should train this little darling? The last puppy we had chewed up all my shoes, not anyone else's but mine. She turned out to be my girl. When I get her this week, I will post pictures on the forum.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Love to all,

Lorene

Carol, so glad you had great weather for your grandson's wedding. I bet it was just beautiful, you will have to post some photos for us.

As far as the spring under the ground, well we have all just learned we are in some kind of a flood plane and live on the top of what is called the "Rimrock" interesting no one really knew this before. However, they made our once two lane highway into a 4 lane highway this past fall. When they did that they raised the road a few feet and also, put in drainage pipes in new locations to divert the natural flow of the water. That is where they made their first mistake. The road dept. was out here behind out house measuring the other day. No one knows what is going on at this point. I'm thankful it's not inside the house, losing one home from a fire in Sun City in 1979 was enough, and then in 2004 losing this home to fire was about all I can handle ...enough all ready, know what I mean?

LORENE: You lucky duck a new puppy, maybe you could start with trying to teach her to be an outside dog. Just make sure all the electrical wires and hoses are up off the ground especially the hose to the slide for the pool. I don't want Georgia to mess up the slide because that was kinda fun!!! LOL Also, don't forget BIG DOG BIG POOP!

I have to admit I do miss having a dog.

I'm so glad to hear that you are feeling better, we sure were worried about you.

Take care and have a wonderful BIRTHDAY! I sent both you and Maurene's cards yesterday, but I sent Maurene's to your mom's, is she still there or did she head for home?

Love,
Lynne

Patricia Hamilton (Denham)

Lorene, I am so happy to hear you are getting a new puppy. I recently got a 10 1/2 week old German Shepard. She is the most wonderful dog. That makes two pups for me. I have a 2 1/2 year old mutt. She is a pain in the butt but I love her dearly. Let me tell you big poop is a whole lot better to pick up than little poop. Now isn't this a wonderful subject for the forum. LOL

Glad you are feeling better. I have a miserable cough myself.

Mark I'll bet you are feeling better than you have in a long time. My brother has a pace maker too. He still tires easily tho'.

Lynne, sorry about all the water, it's too bad you can't channel it to us here in California. We're having a drought here and could use a little.

Carol, You're in the west valley part of Phoenix. I' live in the east valley , about twenty seven miles east of Phoenix. Yes, it was a beautiful weekend. I'm glad the wedding went good and the weather was great!

I just have one more thing to say inregards to the Octomom. I think she made a poor choice in having a baby when she had six, living off student loans, and her Mom uses up her social security check on these kids as well. The fact she had eight, suprise, surprise. Okay I'm done.

I hear we have some dog lovers. Do we have any cat lovers besides myself? We have three, an orange & white tabby named Bitty, a brown and black tabby, Lily and a shorthair calico named Emily. She is Don's cat and a real stinker-doodle! But by the way he acts, you'd think she was the only cat in town.

Mark, thanks for the answer to my question. I have never seen a dried up fall. Glad you are feeling better after your surgery. Take care all, Sandi

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Pat,
That is exactly what my husband said, he actually told the news crew that we have pumped enough water into that creek to water all our lawns for six months. It's so sad to see all the clean water just get pumped down the creek to who knows where.....maybe Hayden Lake which is a beautiful lake. Just wish we could use it in a better way. We pay a lot for our water here in Hayden, we have one of the most expensive water districts in North Idaho.
Hummmm, maybe we need to make some kind of deal with them. Thanks for thinking of us.

You girls have fun with your puppies, I'm jealous.

Love ya,
Lynne

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Sandi,
Ok you got me going again, as far as the Octocan mom aka: Big Lips goes, if she would have just thought for one minute about how hard she wanted to have kids in the first place, you know when she had the first 6. You'd think that maybe if she thought it was SO important not to destroy the 8 frozen eggs, why not donate them to some poor couple who wanted babies as bad as she did only they weren't so lucky. I guess we will never know, all I know right now is that this lady has a rough life ahead of her, but you gotta admit she does love the lime light. Ok, as Forrest Gump would say, "that's all I gotta say about that."

03/15/09 10:56 PM #1908

Don Deyne

And of course Forrest Gump might also say of the octomom...

STUPID IS AS STIPID DOES

Don, you got that right!!

03/16/09 07:49 AM #1910

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Don, You nailed it buddy!!!!! I'm still laughing at that one.

03/16/09 05:09 PM #1911

Carol Maddex (Switzer)

Well I just got home from Phoenix. The Wedding was wonderful however I got very few pictures. I spent most of my time holding my great grandson who wasn't feeling too well so his parents could enjoy the wedding reception. He is my little LOVE BUG anyway so I really didn't mind. I'll be back in Phoenix and Tucson Friday thru Monday and the weather said high 80's and 90's so I am very thankful for the gorgeous week-end we just had.

Lynn I am sure California will pay a good price for your water, although it will probably be an IOU since we here in lovely CA are pretty poor at this time.

Don I love it.

OH but SHE LOVES her children, so much that she is considering doing a porno flick for $$$$$$. Dr Phil is now soliciting for donations for her too. I certainly hope the Department of Social Services will not send her children home with her. Sad as it is these poor children never ask for this....

OK that's my 2 cents...

03/16/09 05:35 PM #1912

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

Carol are you kidding me about the porno flick? Dr. Phil raising money for her? What the heck is that all about?

03/16/09 09:55 PM #1913

Sandra Harris (Lint)

Dr. Phil is working with Gloria Allred, who is a womans advocate attorney, to try and get people to donate to the Angels in Waiting who will be taking care of the eight babies and helping with the other six. Angels in Waiting are nurses and nannies, and they take private donations to help premie babies, mostly. They plan to be helping out for eighteen months. Any money that is raised is turned over to some judge who will only let it be used for the care of the children. She made a poor choice in having another baby, that's for sure. There were only six eggs, two of them split. Her doctor had put six eggs in each time he insemated her. Each time she only got one baby except for the fourth pregnancy, she had twins. So he put six in this time thinking she would have one, at the most two. Suprise!! There's my 2 and a half cents worth!

03/16/09 10:45 PM #1914

Carol Maddex (Switzer)

Sandy you are correct..BUT don't you think it is a little strange that all took this time round? HUMMMMM? I think the Doctor who is responsible should have to pay...Lets face it this was done with selfishness and to get in the lime light...and I don't believe this happen by accident for one minute....and that is my other 2 cents worth...

03/17/09 01:11 PM #1915

Pat Kuester (Bowen)

Bottom line, she already had 6 kids. She shouldn't have had any more if she couldn't support or pay for them. We're not talking about an accidental pregnancy here. Also, the doctor should not have performed the in vitro. He should be held culpable for his greed. Whether one donates to Angels in Waiting or not we are already paying for these kids through our taxes. She's not getting any more of my money. I would rather help people whose circumstances are not due their deliberate actions. I do feel sorry for the children. Besides all the emotional and physical problems they may incur, THEY HAVE A NUT FOR A MOTHER.

Okay let's talk about something pleasant now. I'm going on a weeks cruise to the Mexican Riviera with my kids the end of the month. Whoopee!!!!
