I knew Rusty in HS, but we became better friends in Munich at the U of MD Jr. College. when he went back to Md, I went to Georgetown and we continued to party together. My girlfriend from Hood College and I stayed with him in his apartment many a weekend. Rusty was quite a beer drinker and put on weight. then one day in late1968 he was at a Munich party in the DC area when the house caught fire. Rusty had passed out in the kitchen and the fire spred quickly with smoke everywhere. several people tried to carry him outside, but he was too heavy and the smoke was too strong. alas. RIP Rusty
