Suzie~
Glad you are okay. I have sent out multiple emails to my old boss from Advance Auto who lives in Houston...he hasn't replied...which I figured...but I sure do hope he is okay. He is a smart cookie though...he probably bought a yacht and put it out in his front yard, waiting for this. He is one of a kind.

Hey everyone- hello to the classmates who've joined us recently- I love hearing from everyone- makes my day!

Joe- I just read your post and I'm so sorry for your loss. Your family is on my prayer list.

Sean- You are a gem. I know your heart is hurting so badly- and a piece is missing. You blessed Mike's life and that is something you have forever. He blessed us too.

He and I chatted a few times- it was nice to have a Roanoke buddy. I'm so glad to hear that so many were able to attend the service for him. I couldn't get a sub. I am the only Primary TMD teacher in Roanoke City- so its not like I have substitutes beating down my door to run in. I do adore my class, and know that I was praying for everyone all day long on Thursday.

I can't wait to see everyone at the Homecoming Game. Just know ahead of time you all are getting huge hugs whether you want them or not. Good grief, I am an emotional wreck after catching up and reading.

Susie- please keep us posted on how things are. I've been watching a lot about Ike- I've been praying hard. Sorry I've been so out of touch- this going back to school and teaching is kicking my rear end. I have to admit I'm totally in love with my class. They are precious. So, now, rather than being the mother of 4, I'm the mother of 10. I know I'm in this class for a reason- I think we all see how precious things are to us. That is the true beauty of gaining knowledge and wisdom as we have life experience. We have and had a great class. You all are awesome. Salem Girls- one day when I'm out of school I am so crashing one of your lunches. Hugs and Blessings to all- Michelle

I am exhausted. I just finished mowing (in Jolee's words)1,549,973 acres of grass!
Jolee...John Morton told me he is OCD too. He does the shopping and cleaning at his house! Wow!
Stefanie L...I saw you 2 times on Thursday and wanted to talk...but couldn't catch you without interupting someone...I hope you are coming to the game.

Carla Boyd (McCabe)

Jolee...make sure and let me know what you decide about the shirts...I will take it to SOS and get it going if you want...but you have to give me the go ahead.
Okay...can I share a funny dream I had? I have been thinking how old we are going to feel at the game...and I had a dream that we were all on a big float in the homecoming parade...in rocking chairs! We should do that...with some people riding those motorized scooters alongside. :)

Jolee...I love the music on the homepage! Nice tribute.

Carla- that would be so hilarious! I've got a rocking chair and I could probably borrow some wheelchairs and walkers from the Glebe. What a hoot!

Brian D: Good to hear from you! You're sweet, thx. Hope to see you at the game. Glad to see you haven't changed your way with the ladies.

Vicky: Thx. Tanner is part stuffed animal and part Airedale Terrier. Whenever I take him to a drive thru, he becomes this statue in the passenger seat. He stares strait ahead and doesn't move, I don't get it. I think I may start putting the seatbelt on him, LOL. I actually have had several people ask if he is real. So who rides around with a 77lb dog in their passengers seat that isn't real? This hour of this day, I am planning to go to the game (I'm terrible @ planning ahead!). I look forward to seeing you there.

Carla: Sorry we didn't get to talk Thurs. Now that we are all back in touch we will definitely catch up @ the game if not sooner. Do you remember that really cool swing in your parent's back yard? Gosh, that was so much fun!

Carla~
Were you able to get the additional artwork on it? I am perplexed at how you are going to be able to pull that off and it still be legible..ya know?!?

Carla~
I like your idea for a float...I am working on Mike's small memorial service but if you want to take that on...find a flat bed, get people to jump on a decoration committee, and then load our old butts up on it, I'm in! We'll all have our class of '88 hoodies or t-shirts on!! I even have a wooden rocking chair with Harley Davidson branded across the top. I also have blue and white Duke rocking chair...for all the Duke 'haters out there! That wasn't a dream, that was a VISION!

If you've got the artwork done...I say roll with the presses! Let me send out one more email to all who are on here to see if they would want one and to post it on the survey section....

Jolee, I am sure your boss needs a Yacht..dont expect to hear from him for a few days..it may take 4-6-10 days for the electricity to be back up. Houston is bad.
Cell phone towers are jacked up all the way across Texas.

I did get a chance to talk to Kristen today but she said she was trying to call me all day. Circuits are down.

Michelle..I love my kids too. I don't know how you guys do it in Special ed. God bless you all. But my 180 kids love them all even the turds that get on my nerves! I will be home in October. Dad is having surgery so see you then..lots to catch up on.

Girls I will be in town Oct 11-19. I can help with a float, the memorial service, whatever. I don't have to work that week. Just have to go visit my Dad at the hospital and make sure he gets home ok after his surgery so whatever you need let me know I'm in. He won't be able to drive..so I get his truck the whole week THE GOOD OLE DAYS AGAIN! :)

And yes our Class rocks! I have been through a lot the last 20 years since graduation and since hearing the news about Mike the class of 1988 from Northside high school is the rock of my life! I am so proud to be a part of that..

By the way, I have a call in to MR. DONNIE DYER..I am going to find out about that pyramid picture of the cheerleaders :) My best friend here in san antonio..Dawn..his daughter :) hee hee...I am going to get some scoop! Until then...

Laura, can we also email you scanned photos?

Ok, so now I am addicted to reading all the responses just like all of you! The funeral service for Mike Thursday Thursday was definetly sad but it also gave several of us an opportunity to see each other for the first time in ages. For me, it was 20 yrs. I havent attend any of the reunions. Sad but true. Stefanie Lugar, Karen Lester Hall and I rode together to Mike's service and then Stefanie and I headed to Shakers to meet up with some folks who were giving Mike a farewell toast. Jay Wimmer sat with us at the table. So good to see so many people. Mike would have loved that about his day. I plan on attending the homecoming game for sure!
Take care everyone and keep in touch.

Hey Susan~ When you talk to Mr. Dyer... tell him the pic was last seen in Mr. creepy Mileys hands!!!!!! That would be the best place for him to start an investigation!! lol

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Stephanie, Laura C, Karen, I will be coming to the Homecoming Game so I hope to see you all there, Laura, you may have to drag Karen's butt there, but still, would love to see you girls. At this point I don't know if I am flying solo or not...John has two surgeries coming up, the first one in October is after the trip to Roanoke, so he's not sure if he will take the day to come with me or not since he'll be taking time off the following week.

Jolee, as for the OCD, I think I had it in HS, and now 20 years and 4 kids later I threw in the towel. They all take after their dad and apparently do not know where anything belongs, nor can the find anything in this house, I've given up. So yea, my sock drawer is no longer coordinated by color and type, why make it easy on them to just borrow my socks... but there are few spaces (work and truck) that I can claim as mine as if nobody works in my cube or drives as it's so tidy:-) I still have the new car smell...going on 2 weeks :)

Steph, we looked into getting a dog that looked just like Tanner from a Rescue, but ended up with a 115lb black Lab, which I love to pieces.. he was 10 months old and already trained, but unlike yours he can't sit still.

Carla Boyd (McCabe)

Jolee...I will take the art to SOS and start the process of getting everything on there somehow...and big enough to read...won't be easy. Just understand that some things will HAVE to change from the way you saw it. I will check with you about a number after we get the artwork resolved...and hopefully can show you what we come up with.
Okay folks...the float thing was meant to be funny. You can't be serious about wanting to do that!?

Susan Jones (Badger)

Amy..the funny part Mr. Dyer and yes I still call him Mr. Dyer! He teases me about Mr Miley cause I tell him all of the time how slimy that man was. He just laughs. He was pretty good friends with him. I said come on Mr. Dyer you know he was a scum. You can tell me it's been too many years now and he just laughs. Man the stories that man remembers. I am going to his daughter's tomorrow. We are calling him and I am going to try to get him to go to the Homecoming game to see all of us. He truly is a great man and fun. You guys would love him!

09/14/08 11:00 AM #132

Amy Wilhelm (McGuirt)

Susan~ How cool is it that you and his daughter both ended up in Texas?? It really is a small world!!!
I always liked him in jr high.. it would be great if he would come to the game!! The thing with Miley that grossed me out the most.... he would always walk around with a sucker in his mouth, look at you and grin, then ask you "do you want a lick"" eeewwwww!!! That still makes me kinda throw up a little!!!!

Amy that man is and always was disgusting!

I posted some pictures of Mike that I could find. I found his graduation name card too. I am not as good as some at this scanning and making pictures big sorry. I have to go to the post office this week so I will drop those pics and the name card in the mail for the scrapbook for Mike's kids. When I am home I will look in my brother's books. He played NR sports and may have some pics of Mike on his teams too.

You guys have a blessed Sunday. I hope the Cowboys lose :) Go Skins! :)

I posted some high school pics of Mike that I dug up on my profile.

Laura Wolfe (Campbell)

Ann,

To answer your question, yes, I can use scanned photos of Mike as well. I think I might set up a special Photobucket account for this. I'll do that tonight and post the info for everyone. That way everyone from the class can have access to memories of Mike.

Ann,

Your pics of Mike are awesome! I had forgotten all about the yelling out the window to wake us up deal, but when I saw that pic...HOW COULD WE FORGET?!?!? And the pic with the Eiffel Tower in the back is priceless.

All of these pictures make me incredibly sad that I was so not "in" in high school. I was so far up Jason's ass I missed so much. I am so envious of that, college years, etc. I have felt for a long time that I was on the outside of the snow globe that the rest of the class was looking in and having a blast inside of. I think (Lez, correct me if I'm wrong), that is where I feel a huge disassociation from the class. Me and Leslie did the marriage and baby route...others went to college, etc. I guess in so many ways, that is why I am clinging to you all so hard now. I want to feel that friendship and unity that was there, but I missed. Bear with me...it's got to be a full moon or something! Anybody else understand what I am talking about besides me?!?!

Thank you all for accepting me as my compulsive, less than perfect self. I can't wait to see these books put together...thanks again Laura for taking this on.

Vicky,
Girl, I will drag Karen to the homecoming game if needed. She is hooked on reading the forum so I think it will be easier than the reunion! lol.

Jolee~ I'm kinda with ya.. Scott and I got engaged when I was 15. We got married in Nov. of 88 and moved to N.C in January. I didn't do the whole college thing either and then moved away. There are times when I do wish Scott and I had stayed in Roanoke after we married.

Laura...great idea about photobucket. Seeing the new pics of Mike just makes me want to see more. Thanks for taking this on. You are awesome!
Jolee...I have had the same feeling of being disassociated...I always felt like going to Burton caused it for me. Most of my HS memories are from there...especially since most of my boyfriends were from there. Don't you wish they would have a reunion?
Stefanie L...you joined us late...a couple months ago someone(Barry Lenoir I think)mentioned their friend having the "coolest swing ever". I challenged him, and a few people agreed that my Dad had made the coolest swing ever! What do you think...could there have possibly been a better one? Glad to hear you remember it. Do you remember that time I went with you and Paul(and some other guy...maybe Brian Witt?)to that haunted house and we screamed the whole way? That was the last haunted house I ever went to!:)

Laura- I've got a neighbor compiling a list of the neighborhood children that were close to Mike and I will be contacting them to find out if they have pictures they want to add to the scrap book. How do you want to lay the pages out? Do you want them to sign the page, maybe write a brief memory they have of him? I was thinking that I could take a picture of his home and use that as a part of the pages? (That way they will be able to look back and see where they used to live.) What do you think?
