Went into the US Air Force after graduation. Served 4 years active duty in California and 2 tours in Viet Nam, served 24 more years in the US Air Force Reseve and retired in 2000. Went back to school in 1970 on the GI Bill at Embry Riddlie in Daytona Beach, FL. Met my wife in Daytona Beach and were married in 1972. (We are still married) Went to work for Gulfstream Aerospace from 1977 to 2009 as Senior Manager of Supplier Quality, semi-retired in 2009. Contracted to General Dynamics - Gulfstream to work Supply Chain Management and supplier quality issues. Play tennis 3 times a week and only go bird hunting once a year.

Janice was one of the sweetest persons I knew in River. She cared about people and was interested in them. I returned from Viet Nam after two tours, when I saw her she asked how I was, stuck with me that "anyone" at that time cared.

Reid, to answer your question, I was on the flight crew officially and flew "right seat" a lot. Our regular co-pilot many days was not in condition to fly but the pilot needed help as there was no auto-pilot. It was very easy to fly though.
You know I miss those days of being able to hop on a flight and have the pilot put you on the manifest. I can still do space A travel but there are so many times you will get bumped that we don't.
I did a total of 28 years with the Air Force and enjoyed most of it.
