In Memory

Mike Lambourne

Michael Craig Lambourne  Jan. 10, 1953 ~ July 10, 2014

Michael Craig Lambourne left this world July 10, 2014.  He was born January 10, 1953, to Robert Hart and Jean Marie, the third of five children that grew up in Salt Lake’s Avenues.

Mike's first love was reading 3-4 novels a week.  After graduating from East High in 1971, he joined the US Marine Corps, where he served as an aviation flight line mechanic at US Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona.  Mike proudly served four years, then separated with an honorable discharge as a sergeant.

A year later, he married Jeri, whom he had met while stationed in Arizona.  Together they started a wonderful family with two beautiful girls, Sarah and Katie.  Michael was a wonderful father and later grandfather to two teenage grandkids, James and Isabelle.  To him, family always came first.

Mike loved the outdoors and spent many hours with friends and family camping in the mountains of Utah.  He was a lifelong hockey fan, and played as a young man and adult as a goalie with local leagues.  He later served for three seasons as a hockey official with the Central Hockey League.

Mike was preceded in death by his father and aunt.  We know he will be there to welcome his wife, children, grandchildren, mother, all four of his siblings and a whole “platoon” of nieces and nephews, when it is our time to join him.

Many thanks to James Nielsen & Kevin Van Frank, both EHS'71, for forwarding this obituary.

Many thanks also to the Lambourne Family for providing the photos in this tribute.
