I was lucky enough to grow up with Steve. We lived 1 block from each other, went to the same schools, and we were actually related as distant cousins. My early memories of him were that he had really long legs and ran to and from our grade school, Emerson. He was so fast! My brothers spent a lot of time with Steve and his family as we grew up. He married and moved to Logan in the 70"s, so I did not see him much after that. We were able to do some canoe trips and hiking at Zion with our "Salt Lake Group" in recent years. Even though he was sick, he fought to stay strong due to his love for his wonderful family, of which he was so proud. He was a quiet person and a joy to be around. My heart goes out to his family who stood by him through his sickness. Our lives were enriched by his presense. He will be greatly missed
