Deborah Kay Carlson (Coombs)

November 20, 1952 ~ April 1, 2021 (age 68)

The Angels came and took my Bride, while I sat close by her side.  Free to soar above the clouds and run through grass with the dogs of our past.  Her son and daughter met her at the Gate, as for me I'll just have to wait.  Fly, be free, until we meet again.  I love you baby to the very end.  ~MPC

April 1, 2021.  She passed tonight at 10 pm.  I was sitting next to her holding her hand talking to my old hunting  buddy on the phone and she squeezed my hand and just stopped breathing.  She went very peaceful and in no pain.  I prayed to God ,please if you won't fix, her take her quickly so she doesn't suffer any more, and he sent his Angels to take her home.

Deborah Kay Carlson Coombs was born November 20, 1952 to Francis Harvey Carlson and Katherine Gillespie at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.  She left this world April 1, 2021 at her home in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, with her husband and two of her sons close at hand.

Deb graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City in 1971, then attended Stevens-Henager College.  In 1985 she met Michael Paul Coombs, and on February 14, 1987 they married.  As a result of that union, she gained the daughter she always wanted and together they raised the four sons she was blessed with from her previous relationship.  Deb and Mike endured many hardships in their marriage, but through it all they persevered.  They made numerous trips to Piute County to fish and hunt with their dear and long time friends, the Daltons; trips to The Manila and Flaming Gorge, where she got to catch Kokanee salmon with The Mayor and Capt Jeff; and, lots of trips to Southern California to her Brother Jimmy's.  They also were lucky enough to make several trips together to Florida; Lake Tahoe; New Orleans, where they toured the French Quarter and bayous; and, up to New England in the fall to enjoy the changing colors and the coasts of Maine and Cape Cod.  Their latest adventures (after Deb lost her leg in 2012) were to Hawaii, where she was able to get in the ocean she loved; and, a cruise to Alaska's Inside Passage, where she got to see whales.  Deb loved to golf, fish, and to cook for her husband — she would often tell him she just enjoyed watching him eat.  She was also an avid "gamer" — which drove Michael nuts!  She came across hard, but once in her circle, she loved just as hard and unconditionally.

Deb was preceded in death by her parents; three older brothers: Roger, James and Stephen; sister-in-law, Yvonne; son, Nathan; daughter, Amy Lynn; and, many fur babies, most recently Stanley and Sally.  She is survived by her loving husband, Michael; sons: Nick (Ginger) Tarabetz and Terry and Stephen Tarabetz; grandchildren: Thea Avery, Juniper Rowan, Finnegan Niles Tarabetz and Nathaniel & Sebastian Garay; sister-in-law, Chris Carlson; many nieces and nephews; dogs Sadie and Mandy Blue; her "YaYa Sisterhood", two very special friends (more like sisters), Birgit Chinook and Georgi Dalton; and, a special cousin (also like a sister), Wendy Nelson.
