Went to Yokuska Navy Base in Tokyo Bay on a 6th grade field trip as my history teacher was dating the Captain of the USA Coral Sea Aircraft carrier. We toured the ship and noticed a battleship moored next to us.
It was the Battleship New Jersey! Pretty cool for a 10 year old kid!

Do you have a favorite place where you ever lived? What made it special to you?

Japan for sure. My heart is still Japanese.
Dad was base commander so we went to a lot of events.
Met Bob Hope USO tour, met Louis Armstrong, Rachel Welch, Norman Vincent Peale.
Was a batboy at Yomiura stadium when the SanFransico Giants toured Japan so met Willie Mays, Juan Marical and Willie McCovey tue following year the st Louis Cardinals came so met Lou Brook and Bob Gibson!
Never realized how lucky we were my brother and I!

Have you been back to visit any place you lived growing up overseas?

Yes we’ve been back 3 times to visit my Japanese babysitter who became like a grandma to us. I wanted my children to know and love her like I did.
