I was pretty shy in High School. I ran around with Nancy Davis, but had lots of other friends. I remember all the football games, the Father-Daughter night, Sadie Hawkins - the tennis team - Nancy and I were NOT the best players on the team - I think we lasted one season. I remember French class - I swear that teacher hated me! Also great memories of graduation - windy (no?) and the song "Oh Happy Day"
The teacher who had the most positive impact on me at San Carlos High:
Mr. Segal - I will never forget how he taught Drivers Education and his very graphic video and the famouse words "every time you get into a car "
Other favorite teachers include
Mr. Wilson;Mrs. Allen Mr. Doran (he had lots of patience)
My favorite subjects in high school were...
Hmmmmm - math was definitely not one and wasn't for a long time. Now I love math and every year I tell my students they will also love it, because I was the worst student ever. I liked English and have enjoyed teaching it too. I really did like French!!!!
Some of my best friends in high school (and what I liked most about them):
oh gosh, Nancy Davis - was always perfect, and sweet. Lynne Dotson - every day there was a smile; Barbara Carpenter - forever gorgeous - lots of great memories of summer school at Carlmont;Fran Erickson - my locker neighbor;Judy Nolan - she survived my driving! Dorothy Cirgliano - we went to elementary school together - I was in awe of her big family!Laurie Scharff - again I went to elementary school with her - lots of fun parties at her house.
Some of the most meaningful events or experiences that have occurred in my life since graduating from SCHS include...
I travelled a lot - Japan, the Carribbean. I had two beautiful boys and loved being a mom. Teaching has been very rewarding - I still run into former students and I love their first reaction - kindof like "you're still alive?" (When you're young every teacher seems old. I received the Honor of Teacher of the Year in 1994. I have also joined a philanthropic soriority Beta Sigma Phi and have been a state area President.
Countries (and cities) I have visited since graduating include:
I travelled a little before getting married. Now with retirement close at hand, I am getting ready to "go" again. This summer I am going to France and next summer I hope to go Eastern Europe.
- I'm not as shy anymore
- I still remember Mr. Segal telling us "every time you get into a car you have the ability to kill yourself and others" Obviously it made an impression
- I have experienced a lot of sorrow in life, but feel it has made me more compassionate.
- I don't drive a VW bug anymore - air conditioning is a MUST
The best words and phrases to describe who I am these days are:
Mrre secure and happy. Enjoy doing lots of different things. I believe the best is yet to come. Realize that life is short and I want to live it to the fullest.
Tell us about your driving tickets: the funniest, the most severe, the one you should have been given but didn't (and how you got out of it), and so on...
I got a ticket this past April. The first in 15 years! I have friends who WILL NOT drive with me because I drive too slow for them. (I remember Mr. Segal!!!!!) My boys used to say driving with me was like driving with Miss Daisy!!!! PS I will never do Traffic School again - just pay the damn fine and be done with it!
