Marsha A. Hess Roby

I teach 1st - 12th grade music in Chester, Plumas County, California: general classroom music, elementary band and chorus, Jr. High Band, High School Band, Jazz Band and High School Chorus. I still play piano, guitar and recorder and conduct the Methodist Church Choir here in Greenville. My children Will and Erin have graduated from college and live in Northern California so I get to see them from time to time. My husband Ken just retired from the Forest Service and we enjoy doing things together in this small, rural county in Northern California.

I graduated from Cal State Hayward in 1973 and got my teaching credential in 1974. I really enjoyed my college music classes. Since I've been teaching for 34 years I feel like I've never really graduated. . I hung out with the music kids at San Carlos High. Nile Norton was our chorus teacher and we loved him. I played piano in jazz band one semester my Senior Year and I never dreamed that I would end up teaching High School band. I hung out with Diane Hagen, Sue VanGorkam, my Camp Fire group, Janice Harris, Cindy Meadows, Linda Wolf, my next door neighbor Julie Burton and Rich Stroshane. I loved helping out with The Music Man and being in the musical Oliver.
