David N. Bartley passed away at home on March 4, 2009 after a valiant battle with cancer. Dave was born on February 5, 1951 in San Mateo, CA to Alvin D. Bartley and Helen E. Bartley. He was the youngest of three children. Dave graduated from San Carlos High School in 1969 and a year later married his sweetheart, Barbara Adams. At that time Dave enrolled in apprenticeship school to become a certified automotive mechanic.

Dave found his niche in a trade he absolutely loved. His art of repair spilled over into his everyday life. He took great pride helping family and friends. With his automotive knowledge and love for anything with an engine, Dave made a name for himself racing Super Modifieds at the old San Jose Speedway.

In 1985, Dave refined his skills and started his own business as an automotive extended powertrain warranty inspector, which he operated until he retired in 2000. Dave and Barb then moved to Red Bluff CA to enjoy the 'laid back' life along the Sacramento River and their houseboat on Lake Shasta, which Dave built himself. David enjoyed camping, swimming, fishing, boating and was an avid water skier throughout his life. He often joked that his three piece suit was a pair of trunks, flip flops and a can of beer.

Dave Bartley will always be remembered as the hardworking, honorable man he was, as well as his humor and quick wit. This was a man who had huge presence, who loved to laugh and loved to make people laugh. He was our treasure. He will be forever missed and never forgotten.

Preceded in death by his mother Helen E. Bartley; he is survived by his father Alvin Bartley of So. Lake Tahoe CA; his sister Linda Robertson and husband Bud Jones of Eugene OR; his brother Daniel Bartley of San Francisco CA; his loving wife Barbara of 38 years; his devoted son Jody and wife Amy; his loving daughter Jamie and husband Matthew Blake and adoring grandsons Jakob and Noah of Paso Robles CA.
