MELISSA'S PASSING JUST MAKES ME SAD! ONLY HAD A FEW SCANT ENCOUNTERS WITH HER SINCE HIGH SCHOOL. MY PERVASSIVE IMPRESSION WAS HER LOVE FOR HER DAUGHTER, JENNIFER, BEYOND ALL ELSE.
Melissa was a sweet lady, I am sorry she got very sick and unable to get better. She reached out to me and I tried to help, but I was very far away. I have fond memories from school. May her memory be a blessing.
It was very dificult for her at the end. We had many long conversations, and I (and others) tried to help her, but life overtook our efforts. She had a wonderful soul!
Melissa was my friend when lived In Scarsdale. I took painting classes with her dad as well. Last time saw her was in 1974 when I was at college in Vermont after returning from high school in Brazil. Her mother came on the visit where my parents were living in NYC. It was odd. I sensed something was going wrong in her life. We lost contact after that. She later found me many years later on FB and wrote me a story of her escape from a bad marriage and that she had some disease and then I never heard from her again, but I sensed her life had taken some bad twists and turns. What did she die of? Is there an obituary? I couldn't find one.
Please remember the Class of '73 has a page/group on Facebook. It is called 'Edgemont HS Class of '73'. The link is:

Consider when researching any classmates that you also check the Facebook page (administered by Erica?). I think more of us check there.
I hope the Reunion Committee reconvenes for our 50th. The 40th was such a rewarding event for all who attended. Ron, Richie, Bonnie, Phyllis, Lysa and others: We all hope you all make it this time.
"What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." My heart is deeply broken to see all of the classmates we have lost from Class of 1973 Edgemont High School.
Melissa and I go back to the good olde days.Greenville and Edgemont. We kept in touch on an off and towards the end, we spoke weekly. I helped her out by sending her necessities and food, especially sardines. She always asked for half of my sardine sandwich because her mom didn't like them. We spoke of a trip overseas but unfortunately, she passed away. She was a sweetheart and I miss her! Sweet Melissa.....Angel in Heaven!

I spent many after school hours with Melissa
I named my daughter Melissa because of her
I will always remember the sweet soul that let me get away from my problems at home.
