Thank you everybody for your kudos and your support (especially you, David--you are my right-hand person for LIFE)! I truly appreciate the gift card to Texas Roadhouse, the gift card for Legend's, and the gift basket with Guiding Light Salon and Day Spa gift certificates ... and even though you all think I did it all ... I really didn't ... everybody on the committee helped in some way ... big or small ... they all helped. Especially Julie Suwalski Marshall -- even though she had to PLAN A WEDDING AND GO ON HER HONEYMOON -- she was my right-hand girl. She and I spent one Saturday afternoon at my house (on her Dad's birthday) working on the photo centerpieces for the tables for Saturday night. I don't know if you all realize this, but EACH ONE WAS DIFFERENT. We made 17 in all. I think they are my favorite thing of the weekend! David helped with the goodie bags, which contained business card magnets (that he put together), customized ink pens, customized lip balms, a notepad, candy, a pack of gum, and your nametags (Julie, Sheri, and Kristie all helped with those). David also helped get everything that was "framed" ready--the In Memory table items, the door prize sponsor list, classmate sponsors, etc. Jill got us the Officer's Club, which always does a great job! The food was superb, the drinks were great, and the staff was very helpful to us in getting all the stuff unpacked and ready to be set up. A few people have made comments about using the Officer's Club and feel we should "think outside the box" and choose a different venue for future reunions. Well, I need to comment on that. I checked out other venues "while thinking outside of the box" and guess what ... the Officer's Club was the cheapest. They do not charge us a room rental fee -- the other places I looked at charged a minimum of $500 -- and you can't beat the quality of the food, the atmosphere, etc. I appreciate everybody's opinions and try to take that into consideration when selecting venues for events, but as far as the Officer's Club is concerned, it just can't be beat for the price and quality of the food. As far as bars go, who knows where we'll end up next time! But, I think Legend's did a great job tending to all of us (78 classmates attended, plus spouses)... I know I was not without a beverage for too long! As far as Young's goes, it was great to see all the families that attended! Some classmates had not been back to Young's since high school and they were AMAZED to see how it had grown! That's about all for now ... I'm sure I'll think of something else to add later!
