Arlie Bykonen (Marlow) - Class Of 1944

Arlie I. (Bykonen) Marlow passed away Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, after a long battle with cancer. She was comforted by her loving family and her strong relationship with the Lord. Arlie was born in Powers Lake, N.D., on October 7, 1925, to Vernon and Lena (Honrud) Bykonen. She attended grade school in Powers Lake and moved with her family to Sunburst where she graduated from high school.

Arlie married Chester Marlow on December 11, 1945. They had just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Arlie and Chet farmed on the family farm in Chinook, where two sons, Dennis and Doug, were born. The family moved to Sunburst and was joined by a third son, Dick. They moved to Bozeman in 1965. Arlie completed her LPN degree and worked for the hospital, the Bozeman Convalescent Center, the Gallatin Rest Home, and Drs. Vadheim and Epler. Chet and Arlie retired and moved to Three Forks. They enjoyed camping with family and spending their winters in Southern California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Doug; her grandchildren Mike and Sally Ann; her brothers Doren and Allen.

Survivors include her husband, Chet of Bozeman; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Bobbie of Bozeman and Dick and Bev of Helena; grandchildren and their spouses, Heather and Steve Gabris, Lisa and Curtis Johnson, Darrell and Jill Marlow, Stephanie and Gage King; great grandchildren, Zandrya and Dane Gabris, Oscar and Aldin Johnson, Blake Marlow and Mackenzie King; brother, Galen "Bunky" Bykonen; sisters, Donna Spencer and Marlene Bastian.

A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 18, at Dahl Funeral Chapel.
