Don Shults - Class Of 1944

Donald Shults March 15, 2018

Dear friends,

Congregation member Donald Shults died on Thursday, March 15 after an extended illness. Many will have known Donald for his calm and gracious countenance and manner particularly as he welcomed worshipers and tourists at the cathedral church's visitors' desk. He shared a loving and supportive household with Richard Heidelberg, who preceded him in death, and with José-Manuel Pacheco, Donald's spouse of over 50 years, who attended to Donald's needs with great devotion and care over the past several months.

Out of respect for Donald's stated wishes, a Requiem will not be celebrated. His mortal remains will be committed to God's care and laid to rest on Saturday, April 14, in a private ceremony in the Chapel of St. Francis Columbarium at Grace Cathedral. We pray that Donald shares fully in Christ's Easter triumph over death and we pray for José-Manuel and relatives of Donald in their grief.

Almighty God, we remember before you your faithful servant Donald;

and we pray that, having opened to him the gates of larger life,

you will receive him more and more into your joyful service,

that, with all who have faithfully served you in the past,

he may share in the eternal victory of Jesus Christ our Lord;

who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
