Bernice Eileen Aschim
(December 3, 1919 - December 9, 2004)

Bernice Eileen Aschim, 85, of Anacortes, died December 9, 2004, at Island Hospital. Our beloved mother, Bernice left us on, surrounded by her loving family. 

 
Bernice Eileen Polinkus was born to Joseph and Myrtle (Jones) Polinkus on December 3, 1919 in Tabor, Alberta, Canada. On July 3, 1937, she was united in marriage to Marvin Aschim in Sunburst, Montana.
 
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin Aschim, her sister Hazel Grady, her brother Roy Polinkus and grandson Roby Aschim.
 
Bernice is survived by her sons Garry (Kathy) Aschim of Anacortes, and Lyle (Deanna) Aschim of Sedro-Woolley, her daughters, Lois (Joe) Gillis of Anacortes, and Phyllis Aschim of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren. Bernice is also survived by her sisters, Dorothy Ruckdaschel of Anacortes, and Joanne Hannon of Helena, Montana and a brother Gordon (Judy) Polinkus of Blaine, Washington, and numerous nephews and nieces.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to your favorite charity. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 13, 2004 at, at the United Methodist Church, 2201 H Avenue, Anacortes. The Reverend David Orendorff will officiate the services. A reception at the United Methodist Church will follow the service.
