Welcome to the official Teaneck High School Class Of 1969 web site.

To All Teaneck Class of '69Highwaymen!

A Note to the Teaneck High School Class of 1969 (July 2025)

Dear Class of ’69,

Here we are again—already halfway through 2025 and, believe it or not, closer to next Christmas than the last. How did that happen so fast?

Summer has arrived in full force, bringing sunshine, warmth, and—unfortunately—some extreme weather across the country. From record heatwaves to flooding and wildfires, it’s a good time to check in, take precautions, and make sure we’re all staying safe and healthy.

Good News- your retirement accounts and IRA's should be looking a lot healthier now than they were back in early April when I posted the last note.

As I said in my last note—and it bears repeating:

We may be older, but we’ve got a lot of life to live. Let’s make it count.

This season is the perfect time to do just that. Summer gives us the chance to reconnect—with family, with friends, and even with ourselves. Whether it’s gathering with grandkids, traveling to new (or familiar) places, enjoying an outdoor concert, or simply sitting on the porch with a cold drink and good conversation, these are the moments we’ll treasure.

Life isn’t measured just by milestones anymore—but by meaning. And we still have so much meaning to create.

Steve Jobs, near the end of his life, offered a powerful reflection:

“Non-stop pursuit of wealth will only turn a person into a twisted being, just like me. God gave us senses to let us feel the love in everyone’s heart, not the illusions brought by wealth… The wealth I have won in my life I cannot bring with me. What I can bring is only the memories precipitated by love.”

A reminder for all of us that what lasts isn’t what we owned—it’s how we lived, and who we loved.

Here’s a little encouragement, from one classmate to another:

Enjoy your people. Make the call. Have the lunch. Plan the visit. Don’t wait.

Make new memories. Our stories are far from over. Say yes more often.

Stay active. Walk, bike, garden, dance—whatever moves you, keeps you young.

Stay involved. Volunteer. Mentor. Contribute. Our wisdom still matters.

Stay curious. Keep learning. Be present. Engage with what’s now and new.

Some of us are fully retired, some still working part-time or consulting, some helping raise grandkids, some getting married again this summer, and others finally focusing on personal passions and purpose. Wherever life finds you today, remember: you matter.

You’re not just part of the past—you’re still shaping the present. And you’re still a vital thread in the fabric of this class and this life.

Let’s also keep looking out for each other. If you haven’t heard from someone in a while, drop them a note. If there’s a reunion or mini-gathering coming up—show up. Even a quick photo or email keeps our connections alive.

One more thought from Jobs that’s worth carrying with us:

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.”

Wishing you a joyful, meaningful, and safe summer—filled with laughter, love, and the kind of quiet contentment that comes from knowing you’ve lived—and are still living—a full and beautiful life.

We’ve come a long way since high school, but in many ways, the best part of the journey continues. Let’s keep walking it—together.

Warmest regards,

Mike Gothelf
