Hi! to All! Hope everyone is doing well especially with rain/floods in some areas & drought in others. Our family lost Mom this April. We drove to Cailf for her service & spent the night in Tehachapi on the way. Lots of memeries there! While we were at Paul's the day after her service, he pulled out his Tehachapi Tomahawk yearbooks so we could look through them (more memories). He did not have a 1967 yearbook so his wife went online and found him one to surprise him. When he got it he called me and said, "This book belonged to Bob Carter!" He read me a couple of comments and for sure it belonged to Bob. Just wanted to share with you how great that was & how memories of our time in Tehachapi keep coming. Wishing the best to everyone! Ann

Hi Ann,  good to hear from you.  Sorry about your mom.  I lost my last parent over 10 years ago.  I was also sad to hear that Miriam died.  Do you know what happened?  Alison and I are living in Mazatlan, Mexico, but are coming to the U.S. next week and will stay for about 3 months.  I will also visit Tehachapi during that time, possibly multiple times.  I hope all is going well for you.  Phil

Condolences to you Ann at at the loss of your mother. How interesting and poignant that Paul's wife came up with Bob Carter's yearbook online! Surprised and sad to hear about Miriam. Would not have known had Phil not mentioned it.

Take care class of 69,

Dave

Dear Classmates

I was also saddened by Miriam's death....what a sweet lady she was.  Also, Sammy Flanagan passed away, but I am not sure when.  He lived in Bakersfield and passed away from a heart attack.  Too many of our classmates taken from us too soon.

Love to All

Connie

I read about a high school putting on a "senior prom" for its alum. It was in the high school gym, had a live band playing the oldies and offered refreshments. The ladies dressed up and wore corsages and the guys wore suits and boutonnières. I thought what a fun idea.

Happy late birthday to everyone I missed.  Haven't posted here for a long time.  Was perusing the Medicare website online and it does specify that in order to qualify for Medicare you must apply 90 days before you turn 65.  Some of us are 64, will be 64 soon or some of us have already turned 65.  I found the entire Medicare website confusing.  Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?  Do we need a secondary provider? Des anyone have a recommendation for primary or secondary?  Any suggestions or input is appreciated  thank you

Margo

Hi Margo,

I will be hiring an insurance agent that specializes in  medicare policies.  There is less margin for error if you go to someone that knows how to play the system  Good luck!

Hi All,  Since my birthday is Jan 1st, I qualify for medicare on Dec 1st.  Here is the bottom line:  If you have

paid into medicare for the required 40 quarters, you automatically receive you medicare card.  I received mine last week.  If you do not return it, you will be enrolled in part A (free) and part B (around $120/mo)  You need to decide if you want part D (prescription drug) and supplemental coverage.  If you are still working and have medical coverage through work, you can waive the part B, but keep your copies to prove you have had coverage for when you want the part B, or D even, or you pay a stiff penalty when you decide to take it.  I hope that helps.  My phone # is 818 437 5831 if you have any questions.   Phil

Thanks Phil.  I've been so confused by this. Since I retired we've been using Phil's insurance. Pretty awful considering what I had with my previous employer. We've been trying to figure it all out.

Hi Mike.  Glad to see that you made it to 64.  I already got my Medicare card!  I hope all is going well and that you can take a a moment and send us all a note telling us how you are, and what you are up to.  Alison and I will return to Mazatlan in October for 8 months, working at 2 orphanages and helping build homes.  Take care,  Phil

Hi, to All!  Just had the most wonderful visit with Dave Lobeck! Due to the wonderful website we have with the Class of "69", Dave emailed me & we got to meet in Alpine, TX. He had been visiting his brother, Lee & family, in Del Rio, TX, did some hiking in the Big Bend National Park and was passing through Alpine. We had a great time catching up and I got to show him our place & Harry's art trail. Nice, nice visit! Hope all of you out there are doing fine!  Ann

Thanks, Phil.  Had a wonderful weekend hanging out with family and grandkids.  Even played a little basketball, which is one of my favorite forms of exercise since i don't like to work out so much.  I also play some tennis.  If it's a game, I'm in.  haha.  Blessed to still be able to be active.  I hope all is well with you.  Glad you are still doing the the orphanage work in Mexico.  We are going down to Patzcuaro to continue to support a program called AMO.  And we are going to a nice place in Zihuatanejo for a week for fun in the Spring.  Good times!!
