Yea, good to hear from you all, well, about 4 of you anyway!  The common theme seems to be that everyone al least stays busy.  As for the cold:  I saw this a.m. on the internet that it will be 20 degrees in Lake Arrowhead, Ca tonight (that's where we call home in the U.S.).  Then, at 6:30 this morning I go out on my deck and look at the ocean and I see a guy walking along with no shirt or shoes on.  Ahh, Mazatlan.  Of course, don't ask me what it is like in July or August.  Mike, tell us about your trip to Mexico--was it a mission trip?  Alison and I volunteer 2-3 days a week at the local orphanages, sometimes doing yard work or sorting clothes, sometimes watching and playing with the kids.  Whatever they need.  Since there are 1000s of Americans and Canadians who stay here for 5 to 6 months per year, there are tons of volunteers.  We are getting to know several of them, all great people who love children.  Since we don't have any grandchildren, these kids give us our "kid fix".  Walking on the beach and going kayaking, or to the gym, keep me busy on the off days.  Well, everyone please keep in touch, we are now a medicare group!  Phil

Not on Medicare, yet, but it is quickly coming!

Don't know if I have ever mentioned the non profit organization I started and run, Angels Undercover, I have several volunteers and we make quillows (a blanket that folds into a pillow) for children who have suffered abuse, mainly, but some for sick children, as well.  We have been going for 4+ years, and donate 75-85 quillows each year.  We live to far from town to make volunteering easy, plus our winters can make travel to and from Flagstaff hazardous, to say the least.  I have always done volunteer work, so I decided to start Angels Undercover, totally supported by donations.

Off to quilt, Happy Wednesday!

Nice to see another classmate join in! Hi, Darlene!  Very cool that there are a group of you getting together & catching up. Wish we were closer to join in the fun. I am a quilter, also, for the past 9 years. Something I wanted to learn when we moved to Texas and I love it! We are building on an addition to Harry's metal art shop so I can have a larger room for quilting. Hope to have it done by Christmas. I heard from Jane today & she & Connie's sister, Phyllis, have made contact & are chatting away! Jane said, again, how she wished her class & others had done a website to keep in touch like ours is doing. Glad we have a way to help get freinds together!     Wow, April already!  Ann

Zihua was just for fun.  We stayed in a luxurious house with wait staff, etc.  So like us.  Our usual 'mission' trips are to Patzcuaro, los Huastecas near Tamazunchale, and sometimes Mexico City.  We have done stuff in a casa hogar, but mostly we support AMO there now.  If you don't know that program you should check it out.  Very cool what they have come up with.

Thanks Tons to all for the birthday wishes.  It was a good one.  Can't believe we are at 65 already, now a ward of the government.  I'm still in Bishop, retired from Inyo County a few years ago and immediately went to work for a consulting firm to finish my last bridge.  Worked for them until November of last year.  Now at a point where I can retire - or not.  Only problem, I still like my job, dang it - how does that happen?  I have been blessed infinitely more than I can imagine.  I hope and pray that the Lord continues to bless the class of 69.

Thanks Again     John

Claudia Galloway (Elliott)

Hello, everyone!

It has been so nice to see new emails letting me know that someone has posted to this forum. I believe we have had this website now for about seven years now.

I believe I posted earlier that my husband and I moved to Brookings, Oregon, after I retired from the Tehachapi News last summer. If you find yourself in the vicinity would love to have company!

I was looking at the list of classmates who have never "checked in" to this site. If you know any of them, hope you will encourage them to do so. Before long we'll have to be thinking about planning our 50th and it would be good to know what's going on with some of those who we haven't connected with in awhile.

Take care!

Claudia

50th reunion, wow, hard to believe any of us could possibly be that old...did we graduate at 12??  I enjoy reading everyone's posts and would love to see more people checking in.

Claudia, I love the Brookings area, hope to go that direction again, one of these days. My brother, Patrick and his family live in Crescent City, just across the CA border and we have been up there several times to visit them.  If we get to go again, I would love to see you and Chuck, again.

If any of you will be in the Grand Canyon area, we would love to see you.  You are welcome at our home but if that doesn't work for you, we would love to meet up with you.

God be with you all, Kathy

Hi Janis, nice to see someone is reading all of this, and that you are doing fine.  Mike, staying at a luxury house with wait-staff?  Sounds like my place without the luxury and wait-staff!  What is AMO, American Missionary Orgainzation?  I'll check it out but I'm not sure what it is.  Stay in touch everyone.  Phil

Nancy Garrett (Garrett)

Hi Everyone! Thanks Eli for the birthday greeting!  I had a really great 65th!! Time is sure flying by.  I guess our parents knew what they were talking about when they were always telling us how time would fly be faster the older we get.  Well.....they were right.

Tim and I are doing good, still trucking but starting to take more time off.  We will retire the end of next year.

It has been fun to read all the posts and see where everyone is.  We live east of Branson, Mo a little over and hour away and southeast of Springfield, Mo.  If you're ever in our area, please give us a call and if we're home we'll meet you for a glass of sweet ice tea!!!

You can email us at gartgarn@yahoo.com also.  Hope to be able to get together with everyone again sometime soon!  Take care, Nancy

I always read the post from everyone, I just don't sign in.  Great to hear what is going on with everyone.  Still working in Bakersfield, but my plan is to retire sometime between June and December of next year.  We need to start thinking about our next BIG reunion.  It isn't that far off and as Nancy says "time is flying by" faster today than ever. Take care everyone.

Connie Carter (Brown)

I am so glad to finally see our classmates using this site again.  I haven't been on here for quite some time.  My husband is having some serious health issues right now and has been since late last year.  He was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and has spent some time in the hospital.  He just got out last Wednesday after an 8 day stay.  I spend most of my time taking care of him and taking him to doctor appts.  Getting old really sucks.

Hope all of you are well and keep writing....out 50th reunion will be here before we know it.  Let's make it the best one we have ever had.  Love and miss all of you.

Oh, Connie, I am so sorry to hear Brownie is having health issues, thank God he has you.  My baby sister has congestive heart failure, it is a difficult issue to deal with.  Hang in there, sweet friend!

Kathy....Thanks for your post and for your concern.  It means a lot to me.  Your little sister is way yoo young for that kind of problem.   Hope she is doing okay.  Take care.

Connie, as I said before, you have the support of all your classmates. Keep us posted and you take care of yourself.

The number of people on my prayer list keeps going up daily!  Connie, my sister is not likely to ever be alright, her heart is only working at about 33%, this is all a result of the chemotherapy she had to go through in her 20's.  if her heart function does not improve, the next step is a heart transplant, if she is strong enough.  Add her to your prayer lists, please.

Connie Carter (Brown)

Kathy....sorry to hear that about your little sister.  Brownie won't get better either.  His heart function was down to 15% while he was in the hospital.  They did an ablation on him and it did improve his heart to about 20% but it doesn't look too promising.  Thanks to all of you that have expressed their concern.  Love all of you.
