I welcome everyone to the Class of '69 website, too. Jerry and I are co-administrators of the website, but Jerry is the computer geek who set it up, so everyone can slap him on the back!

Carolyn Hasty has suggested that we set up a fund in memory of our classmates who are no longer with us for the new Union Township Library that will be built in Union City. It's presently in the fund raising phase and I think they are close to their goal. But that doesn't matter. If our fund isn't used toward general building, we can designate what we'd like the fund to be used for.

So, everyone consider this excellent idea and give some feedback. This is a great opportunity to perpetually honor classmates who unfortunately can no longer attend our reunions.

Kathy Aldrich
Larry Carpenter
Terry Dulin
John Guthrie

I hope I've included all of them. If not, I will update this post.

Great idea, Dan! Now . . . how do we do that? If everyone who has kept in contact with a "'69er" would tell that person to check out this website, maybe that would help.

Has everyone checked out J.J.'s website? It's introspective (never knew Jerry could be serious), it's funny and downright interesting. Just go to www.pawdad.com

My next plan of action is to start calling folks. I have the list that Ed compiled with everyone's name, address and phone number. I have free long distance, so guess I'll be spending some time on the phone.

I'll update later . . .

I think you both have done an awesome job putting this website together! It would be a shame if more classmates don't respond and sign up. Also this is just a really great way to keep in contact with fellow classmates. There are several I'd love to e-mail & see what has been going on in their lives.

Dear Classmates: This promises to be a good reunion! I am all for establishing a memorial fund to donate to the new Union City Library. Good to hear from you and read your responses. Lets get connected! My time resources are very limited, but I will volunteer to do what I can for my fun class! Talk to you all later. Love Micki (Smith) Zaleski

Hello everyone! I was so glad to get the e-mail about our website. You guys did an awesome job. I would love to help out with the reunion. I have missed a few, but want to be there for this one. We are getting to the age where we are going to add more to the "IN MEMORY" list.
I'll keep in touch now that I am back in the great state of Michigan. Texas and Illinois and North Carolina are not the greatest places to live. I have plenty of free time so let me know what you need.

Hey, Everyone!

I don't see any recent messages here. This forum is an opportunity to make it easier to stay in touch and share ideas for planning our reunion

Other ideas to share in the message forum could be:
New grandbaby
New job
Retirement
Attending college, taking classes
New home, change of address (change your profile, too)
Death in your family
A milestone wedding anniversary or birthday

Check back here often to see what's happening.

Hey Connie,

I talked to Sheryl yesterday and she said ya'll had a great time at your lunch at Clara's. The pictures were great. I would have know you all if I had met you on the street.

I think the Library fund is a great idea. I for one spent hundreds of hours there over the years. I'm in for a donation. Let me know where to send it.

It is shame that more people have not signed up on the website. Even if they are not going to the reunion it would be nice to know that people are still alive. After all, we are getting to the age where the odds are beginning to go against us!! I am always a bit surprised when I wake up in the morning.

Our life has taken an unexpected turn. In October we got a big surprise when my husband went to the doctor. The last 4 months have been a constant round of medical appointments and testing. After making huge monetary contributions to the medical community, we are still not sure what we are dealing with. Hopefully he will soon have surgery and get some answers but we may be in for a long haul.

Ahh...the Golden Years!! I am so tired of comparing symptoms and medicine dosages. I didn't sign up for this old age crap. If my body was as young as my mind thinks I am I would be good to go.

Anyhoo, hope you are doing well. Keep me posted on the goings on.

C/.

Ed Stemaly

Hi Classmates;

Is there a way to get e-mail addresses from this site so as to make a list? If not, can we ask everyone to send addresses to Connie, Jerry, someone, so we can have a list?

Jerry and Connie, I just love the website; you've done an awesome job on it.

Am looking forward to the planning meeting. The directions were not too clear (my fault - not Ed's) so call if you need directions.

Jerry, I enjoyed your pix in your profile.

See ya.

Hi Carol~

I like the library idea, too, and we will be discussing it at our reunion planning meeting on Sunday (Feb. 15th) at Sheryl Stalcup Arredondo's house.

Good to hear from you and good to see someone is using the message forum. I'm busy trying to round up missing classmates. I hate talking on the phone, but that seems to be the best way to reach folks. Folks . . . I used to think that was a "corny" word when my parents would use it.

So how is Winston doing? Please let us all know through the message forum so we can keep him in thought and prayer.

Sounds like you are a happy woman with your work and family. Our two boys (both 9 . . . yes, that's right, 9 yrs old) keep my husband Ross and I busy. Kobe is ventilator dependent from being shaken when he was just 28 days old. He's also quadraplegic and tube fed. Christopher has autism, doesn't speak, has chronic immune hepatitis and seizures. We've had Kobe since he was 8 wks old and Christopher since he was 2-1/2 yrs old. Mindy taught me everything I know about having children with special needs. For those who don't know, my daughter Mindy who went through so much in her young life, died in 2001 at the age of 30 from a glycogen storage disease. Ross and I became foster parents in 1998 and from there, adopted our boys.

I'm a nurse and get to stay home and be paid by our insurance company for taking care of Kobe. My husband Ross is a teaching assistant at the Klaussen Center (Calhoun County's special education center) in Battle Creek.

Everyone take care and let's hear other classmates' ideas about donating to the library fund and activities for the reunion.

Be sure to take the survey. Just click on "Class Reunion Survey" on the left side of the home page.

Hi Classmates~
I received the following email from Lynn Smith. Any thoughts or discussion???

Subject Re: REUNION

Hello Connie,
Surprised it is not going to be Memorial Weekend but it does not matter to me. Whether I can make it all depends on what happens with the economy.
Ideas, cookout or something. Nothing extravagant. Get togther one night somewhere, The Bucket, or something like that. I do not know. Would like to be able to talk to everyone and be able to converse in normal tones.
Thanks, Lynn

Hi Lynn~

Well, from out of our meeting yesterday, we did decide that after the Alumni Banquet/Dance, we will have a social mixer at The Bucket for anyone who wants to go.

But "the" reunion will be a separate event in August. We're checking into renting the community rooms at the fire hall and Turtle Creek Golf Club. We'd like to have a catered meal (price permitting) and a DJ to play '60s music.

Hi Lynn
I'm glad you are trying to make the reunion this year. I hope a lot of classmates can make it. I missed a lot of the past reunions and have not seen hardly anyone. It was so nice to go to the planning meeting and see a few people. I think it would ne nice to go to the alumni banquet and then to the Bucket for chats. Then in August we can have a catered dinner w/ DJ, or evem potluck and a DJ. Keep in touch.

HEY CONNIE,
Just to let you know - I didn't fill out the survey because I am not going to be there. I just can't see how I would be able to get away this summer. I have too many irons in the fire at this point.

And to be truthful, I have not been back since my dad died and I am not real wild about stirring up unpleasant memories. It got pretty ugly with his wife.

Anyhoo... it sounds like everything is coming together nicely. Keep in touch. C/.

Hi Carol~

Sorry you won't be able to attend . . . you will be missed. (We can always talk about those not there, though; only in a nice way, Folks!)

Do you have any ideas or suggestions to improve the website? I'm always open to those. We will be adding a PayPal feature so classmates can pay when they register for the reunion and donate if someone wants to financially help with the reunion efforts and to support the website. The website cost is $133/yr.

Also, if you have any website you'd like to be linked to the class website, just let me know.

Take care, Carol. Hope everything is going OK for Winston.

Connie
