James: You're invited anytime! Hell, invite your other brown & tans friends over... nothing like having a beautiful display and a whole bunch of people to enjoy it!

Gene, You weren't on Gardenville the other week were you? Somebody wiped out my mailbox and did a pretty good job on it. lol This is the third time my mail box has been destroyed in 10 years. I'm gunna put a big bullseye on the next one.

James, glad to see you still have a good sense of humor. What's the deal with sparklers? I've heard that they were officially outlawed in VA. Actually that's how i got started. First it was sparklers and then I gradually moved to the bigger stuff, Fire Works that is. lol

Melinda, Let's keep it clean. That was a little below the belt. Even though I was thinking the same thing.

Do any of you hear a song and think of someone from high school?

Linda Whitaker: Lowdown, Boz Scaggs (she danced to it in 6th grade)

Beth Liles: Tom Sawyer, Rush

Cathy Capps: Go all the way, Raspberries (damifino or remember why)

Janet Trottier: not a song... but Robert Redford comes to mind when I think of her.
... hmmm, so do screwdrivers come to mind and driving across the York River in pouring down rain with no windshield wipers and leaving DNA on the bridge as she did her best to drive MY car!

There is another song and another person but both have escaped me at this time...

just curious if anyone else is reminded of a classmate when a certain song plays.

Then there are the places that remind me of certain people.

Maria Plahn: The Inn Place (Distracted her when I was 20 and got in there without her realizing that I wasn't old enough)
Tom Kubesh and Suzanne Johnson: El Torito Restaurant (He came in there when I was working there... he thought I was her. ???
Blair Wilson: Yorktown Beach (saw him there back in 1980ish...never forgot)
Louie Loueye: Costco (DOH!) He stalks me there.

Gina, You're a NUT!!!! :-)

When you think of Costco you're supposed to think of Donald Smith. Everyone knows that. lol

I just got home from a Mandisa concert at our Church and all I can say is, WOW!!! What an Awesome voice. For those who don't watch American Idol. Mandisa was one of the finalist two years ago. She was the very large woman whom Simon made some very crude remarks regarding her size and weight. She came back a few weeks later and spoke directly to Simon on national TV. Her testimony is as extraordinary as her talent.

Louie,

We are American Idol watchers at our house. Love to see young people and their talent. I remember Mandisa. She was one of my favs .... loved her voice. I was appalled when Simon said those hurtful remarks but she handled it with class. I'm sure her performance was amazing ... you're lucky to have seen her.

Hey all. Back in the loop from vacation at Chincoteague. We went night fishing and my son caught a shark and two rays, among other things. He caught the ray on 12 lb test line. It took about 1 hour and 20 minutes. He did a great job. Fishing is definately a sport. Dave, I also think that tennis has changed. We may have been geeks, but tennis kids today are not. Most of them are pretty athletic. Hope everyone is doing OK.

Karen, Terri, Louie Loueye, & Dave.... your wait is almost over.

Terri Duncan (McDonald)

Gina, in answer to your previous question, yes certain songs do remind me of certain places, events at school etc. Unfortunately, I couldn't tell you until that song came on--it's the memory thing again. I also see that you have birthday coming up. Any special plans? Those boys of yours better take you out and make your day special, :)

I can't wait for whatever we are waiting for, :)

07/18/08 12:02 PM #638

Gina Valentine (Stevens)

I don't do birthdays if i can get away with it. but luckily i don't get away with it too much.. as i am sitting in front of my present from last year... a 28" monitor! :)

07/19/08 10:55 PM #642

Gina Valentine (Stevens)

it took a little while to get used to such a big monitor... but now i couldn't stand to be without it.

Pssst... who is James (Dan) Watts?

07/20/08 01:02 AM #643

David Emmons

Shhhhh... not really sure.. once I start getting back to doing my job I will add a photo so maybe some of us old farts will remember...

07/20/08 01:06 AM #644

David Emmons

Gina, you will like this story

I received a package today and after the bomb squad left I opened it... it was a filter for my fridge...well not really. Of course the bomb squad didn't come because of that package but because of the envelope I received from you ....

;-)

Thanks Gina that little thing is so cool. Just in case there are others out there I do not want to ruin the surprise for anyone else. My son wants it so badly, but I told him I would not part with it (I am very serious when I say that).

Thanks again, not required nor expected...but pretty cool anyway...

Hey Ya'll, There's an awesome story about the retiring Mr. Paul Kirby in todays sports sections.

Hey Gina, After leaving Dave's house the Bomb Squad come by my house. lol. Thanks Gina, I'll have to make sure I don't mistakenly take it to the Airport. It's a lot cooler than a T-shirt.

Lou

07/20/08 10:44 AM #647

Karen Perry (Burnett)

Gina, you rock!! Thank you so much! Who knew the bomb squad was so thoughtful!!! You've always been my favorite! :- )

07/20/08 10:46 AM #648

Terri Duncan (McDonald)

Okay, this is just not even funny anymore. Where is that bomb squad? They haven't come to my house, :(.

Just got back from reading the article on Paul Kirby! Very nice article. He was a great teacher.

07/20/08 04:16 PM #649

Gina Valentine (Stevens)

You know... when I got those things for Louie and Dave, I didn't know they were hiding secret stuff. My husband pointed it out for me. I was going to put them in my carry on... oh... can you imagine if I had!

Karen: I knew I was always your favourite... I did.

Terri: If you hadn't moved out of state you too would have received yours within one day... but since you left us... it takes longer for you to receive. Deal with it!

wow... i didn't know the bomb squad showed up for mail deliveries... i send a lot of pkgs out; I must be keeping them rather busy!

and.. very cool about Paul Kirby; he got to Tabb High the same year we did. :)

Well Gina, all the other people you send stuff to know you as a business, and personally I have read the Message Forum, so I wasn't taking any chances :-) , thanks again and good thing you didn't carry it on the flight because they may not have let you out of 'gitmo' to come to the reunion.

If you do not know what 'gitmo' is ask Tommy :-) or if you saw a "Few Good Men" (No I am not talking about Louie, Tommy and me) you might know...

07/20/08 11:31 PM #651

Gina Valentine (Stevens)

I'm a news junkie... I know all about Club Gitmo. :)

More "Lore" that got stuck during 5 years of mental rehabilitation...

it's taken me the 23 years since I took the mottled green off and to become "slimy" again...

07/21/08 09:30 PM #653

James Richardson

Gina,

Guess who just left my house? YEA! THE BOMB SQUAD! Thank you so much! I haven't seen some of those guys in ages.......! It was so thoughtful., LMAO

Hope everyone is doing ok. Staying busy at work and only check the posts once or twice a week. Went to Shagging on the beach in Yorktown last Friday again. What a great time! If they keep it going next year, that would be a great place for a Friday get together the weekend of the reunion. Free music and BYOB.

I still need to comb the attic for those long lost high school photos. If I find any, I will send them on.

James.
