In Memory

Todd D McFarren

Todd McFarren peacefully passed away from Alzheimer's on May 14, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Yolanda, daughters Erica and Winnie, son Ian and sister Gay Francis.  Born in Canton, Ohio, Todd was an all-American hero. He joined the Marine Corps and became a decorated Vietnam veteran. He earned multiple degrees from Kent State and a law degree from UCSF. For 30 years, Todd dedicated himself to fighting for injured workers and serving the Watsonville community. He was president of the California Applicants' Attorneys Association (CAAA) and the Workplace Injury Litigation Group (WILG).

After the 1989 earthquake, he became the mayor of Watsonville and served on the city council until 1998. He also taught philosophy at Cabrillo College and founded the Chess Club at Moreland Notre Dame. Todd cherished his family, especially his wife, three children, and three grandchildren.  He was a selfless, humorous, and remarkable husband, father, and community leader.

He was deeply admired and will be profoundly missed. He dedicated his entire life to serving his family and community, and above all, he was a wonderful father.

Todd McFarren was a great classmate. Athletic, intelligent, humble and friendly define him very well. I wasn't surprised to learn of his military service and his commitment to helping others in so many ways. I admired Todd at Berea High School and in life. Condolences to the family he loved and of which he was always proud. It's comforting that Todd is at peace and united with our Lord. God bless!
