Jean Ann....Couldn't let the day end without sending BIRTHDAY WISHES your way. Hope it was good one.

Dick, Did you ever get tall enough to wear the jeans without cuffs before they wore out??

Richard Finke

Ruth, By the end of the school year, they always fit.

Sorry Jean, I missed your birthday. Hope you had a great day :) Dick, I think you were hanging around with a few older kids on your birthday!! I think the boys are John Begeman, (Dick, the birthday boy), Bruce Hatton?, & Joe Bubenzer.

Bingo Jean, You win the award. For those that were not Freelandville kids, John Begeman moved in 2nd grade to Lafayette, IN and then to Brazil. He is now retired and living between Tucson and NM. Joe Bubenzer livess near me on Lake Norman, just north of Charlotte. Bruce Hatton moved and went to South Knox. I believe he is the Supt. for Washington Schools. Bruce lived where Danny and Linda Kixmiller lives today.

I'll be watching the mail closely for my award!!! Maybe tickets to fly anywhere in the US on US Air with Dick as the pilot?? That would be nice! I could use a vacation!

I sent this link to Bruce, or should I say Dr. Bruce Hatton. I hope Bruce takes a look at our site if he has time.

I have received several messages over the past couple months from fellow classmates concerning my choice of music on my profile page. In short, nobody likes it ! "What happen to the great songs on your playlist"....they ask. After retreating to the "man cave" in my garage for some much needed contemplation, self-examination, self-questioning, soul-searching, meditation and reflection on my musical choosings, I have egressed from my delusionary aberration and accept full resposibility for the error of my ways. My profile page "Song Playlist" now offers, for your listening pleasure, my personal top 25 songs of 1964 & 1965. You can rest assured, I will never again betray you by straying from my musical roots.

Jean, you're good. Would have had no clue who was in that birthday photo except for Rich. Now can sorta see Joe B.

Tom, are the "new" songs in any particular order?

Hey, Freelandville folks: I see that the landscape downtown is changing again. The buildings next to what I remember best as Darwin Emmel's (then Ray West's) have been torn down - to make a parking lot for the new pub, I think?

Also were there a bunch of policemen in Freelandville last Thursday? I saw 7-8 cars go by our place that morning (no lights, not hurrying), one with a trailer. Jeff thought they might have been doing a program somewhere.

Here are some pictures of the new Tavern in Freelandville. This was the Demolition phase.

Lu.....yes, the songs are kind of in the order of my favorites. If I had to choose a fav, it would be "Treat Her Right" by Roy Head & the Traits. How about we all start a letter writing campaign to Summy asking him to let me post photos of him at this site ? If we bombard him with letters, maybe he'll finally give in.

Thanks for the link to the bldg. demo in Freelandville. I can see why they had to go. Sad, though.

Late Saturday afternoon, I made the trek down through Happy Holler to Grumpy's Garage. There, I met up with fellow '70 grad...... Mike "Summytime" Summers of Edwardsport (a small suburb of Freelandville). Grump brought out his photo albums and we looked through old pics from what seems like another lifetime. I have posted on the homepage, one of my favorite pics of me and Summingston. Hard to believe we were ever that young and innocent......(well, OK, maybe we were not really that innocent.) I also scanned many photos of the party place of the late '70's.....Grump's old house out on west Hwy. 58 (next to Joe Kirchoff's). I know this has nothing to do with our NK 1970, but if anyone is interested in seeing them, I can post a link to them at this forum. Let me know if your interested.

The picture of Tom and Mike is adorable (man I don't remember you guys being that cute.) Just kidding!!!!!!!

Wow! That is a great picture of Tom and Mike....and they actually do look almost innocent, as well as very, very young!:)

It has been quiet on the web site. I hope all is well with everyone. I have been freezing walking around San Fran on a layover. It is 62, but with the 28 mph wind it is definitely coat weather and all I had was a knit shirt.

Tom, Great pictures of Mike, you, Steve, and Mike. Keep them coming.

NO guesses on the pictures from Shakamak??? Surely someone has a guess as to who is on the 16' tower.

My mom has lost sight in her one eye. She got up about a week ago and at about 9 am, her vision in one eye was suddenly gone. May be a blood clot, the doctor thinks. I hope she gets her vision back, but will just have to see.

Hey Dick, heard about your mom's problem today, sure hope things improve. I need to call her to see how she's doing. In my prayers.

Rich, so sorry to hear about your mom...my mom had a rough year last year when she was diagnosed with wet macular degeneration...then a few months later she was diagnosed with dry macular degeneration...they lasered the wet, and I think her vision is better than mine...hope your mom's situation resolves.

Kathy Diane Dunn (Steele)

Rich, I hope your Mother is doing better. When my Mother had her last stroke her vision was affected dramatically. She can't read like she used to, and it has not been easy for her to accept. I will keep your Mother in my prayers,
Kathy

Tom, Thanks for doing the Grump's Party Pad slide show. I enjoyed it very much. Is that Doug Walker in one of the pictures? Keep the pictures coming.

07/22/09 07:22 PM #1174

Tom Held

Yes, that is Doug "Crisco" Walker. He was one of the regulars at Grump's in the 70's. He has been car salesman in Linton for about 35 years now.....a good part of which was with Jack Wheeler Ford, until they closed. He currently lives north of Linton. His next door neighbor is Kent "Moon" Harting.
