In regards to Walter Brewer and Lester Anderson, I did not know them, but here is their death records I believe. Both so young to lose their lives.

BREWER, WALTER KENNETH May 18, 1969 Age 15

ANDERSON, LESTER ALLEN July 28, 1968 Age 17

Pat, I am not sure of the feeling you had on landing recently. It is kinda of like driving a car. If you are at the controls it doesn't feel as bad as if you are the passenger. I know landing in Phoenix the other day with 111 degrees, we gave the people a very bumpy ride in the back, but we didn't probably think much of it up front. Pat, I appreciate your thinking about me at Lindbergh's grave. I had to look up where OGG was. I did not know Linbergh was buried on Maui. You obviously were there on vacation again. I hope you had a good time. What airline did you take this time? We just announced we are going to start non stop service to Hawaii from Charlotte in December.

Tom, You asked if I have carried anyone famous. Over 25 years of flying, we do occasionally carry a few famous people. I rarely get to see them though. They are usually in first class and are off the plane before I can greet them getting off the plane. I would never ask anyone for an autograph because I am sure they get sick of that. I did shake hands with Stevie Wonder once. He wore a long fur coat. I remember his hands were soft and almost mushy. He was very polite though, which is unusual for many famous people. Many flight attendants tell me, many Celebes won't ever talk to them, but have the person with them do the talking. Some though are very nice. I wish I had written down all the famous people I have flown over 25 years. Here is the list I can remember.

Peyton Manning, Peter, Paul, and Mary, George Steinbrenner, Sissy Spacek, Liza Minelli, Stevie Wonder, Harry Belafonte, Dan Quayle, John Kerry, Robin Roberts, Strom Thurmond

Dick
The feeling we felt was a falling feeling. We flew United from STL, to DEN, To OGG. Back on United to Lax then US Air to Phoenix then Stl. How long of a flight from Charlotte, 11 or 12 maybe? Will you be making those flights? Had a great time, thanks.

Pat, The flight over to HNL will be 10:14 and 8:57 coming back. The 767 is going to do that flight so I won't be doing it as long as I am on the Airbus. When you flew LAX-PHX-STL you were on US Airways, but US Airways "West" as we call them. They are the original America West Airline people. We are US Airways East. We all work for the same company but have never combined the seniority lists after 2-3 years of intense fighting between the two pilot groups. I am not sure if we will ever get it worked out between the two groups. When you went on US Airways last year to Hawaii, that was also the west folks. I am not sure about the falling feeling you had. At least you are here and talking about it. I hope you have a good 4th. I am off to Punta Cana on the 4th. Just down and right back though. Suppose to land at 8:08 PM so should make it to some fireworks somewhere.

For anyone interested, here is my first classmate at the Air Force Academy to receive 4 stars. He is the first Air Force Officer to lead the Southern Command. This makes me feel real old.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DICK. Wishing you many, many more:)

Hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable 4th of July. Our family was sooo spread out...son vacationed in Vegas, daughter on a cruise in the Caribbean, and daughter (with my grandkids) went to Kentucky. Since it was rainy & cool we spent a quiet evening at home and watched the neighborhood fireworks from our driveway.

Hey Dick - how many bushels of corn could you store in those cuffs????

07/09/09 02:26 PM #1145

Richard Finke

Danny, At least 2 per cuff, but from the knees up, I am pretty sharp. Even had the cub scout knife. That wouldn't be allowed today going to school.
