I for one have not been able to stop the tears from flowing since hearing about Michael Jackson. How many times did we dance to songs either sung by him or songs written by him. An extreme talent with some extreme problems but I was always proud to say that Michael Jackson and I hail from the same state.

I have not seen much comment about the death of Michael Jackson. My opinion is that in his prime, he was a dynamic performer. His records sales speak for themselves. But, that does not excuse his child molestation accusations. (Yes, I know he was found not guilty, but so was O.J.) He escaped a guilty verdict only because of his fame and money. I consider him guilty. As far as I am concerned, the abuse that those innocent children suffered at the hands of this monster, wipes out any success he had as a performer. I cannot understand all the praise being heaped on him by the celebraties of Hollywood, etc. Enough said about Michael.....I have made my opinion clear. There was another performer who passed away on Thursday, also. His name was Sky Saxon. He spent his entire career in the music business and did it without molesting young boys. His claim to fame was playing bass and singing the lead vocals for The Seeds. The Seeds had a major hit in 1967 with "Pushin' Too Hard"......a two-chord garage band rocker that hit the Billboard Top 40 in 1967. I doubt that there were any local bands that didn't have "Pushin' Too Hard" on their playlist. A classic that still holds up today.

Great pictures Tom, I enjoyed seeing them very much. Keep them coming. I have a few left from my last trip to IN. I will keep posting the ones I have.

It was not me yesterday that landed hard in Tampa. I only hope that Billy Mays death is not attributable to something hitting him on the head during the landing in TPA. We shall see.

My husband and I used to go to Friendship, Indiana every year for the Revendevouz. Also, he was a member of the George Rogers Clark Memorial Muzzleloaders. They tracked from Kaskaskia, IL to Vincennes, IN one winter to reenact the march they did during the Revolutionary War. I wove him a capote (wool cape) and french knit hat to make the trek. He nearly froze but they made it.

Wished I known you guys were there, I would have looked you up.

It was always a fun adventure.

Happy Birthady Henry on the 2nd.

Speaking of hard landings, Sarah, Ann and I were on final approach into OGG two weeks ago, this was the first time I actually was worried in a plane, it just seemed like the 767 fell about a 1000 feet, which I'm sure it didn't, I didn't think he was ever going to find any air to lift us back up. Is this a common thing to happen, I know little ones happen all the time but this one was scary. Is it just air pockets?

Grab.....nothing too bad. I believe they are mid 70's Columbus, Ohio pics. The Canadiens, Skip & Muarry are in one of them, heh !

Can't believe we never took any pics of the old band. Oh, wait ! Sam has pic of us playing "on the parachute" at Bucktown at J.H. birthday party.

Summytime pics are from Indy Nationals & parties at Grump's old house out on Hwy. 58. But, like I said, he will not give his OK.

Norman, I do remember both of the guys you're talking about. Lester lived door to Jeff Lynn. I do remember him either dying or getting killed very young but that;s all I remember.

Walter Brewer rings a bell. I can actually visualize him walking down the street. I think I remember him mostly from the swimming pool. I believe he was a year or 2 younger than me.

If i win a prize on this (for remembering) I hope it's a new car. Lol

Michael DeCoursey

Norman,

Lester Anderson was Jeff Lynn's next door neighbor and was killed on his motorcycle on a Sunday morning in front of the Methodist Church. Walter lived on West 9th Street next to my aunt and uncle and was killed over on 8th Street on either a bike or moped. Both were great guys, Walter was interested in nothing but going fast, had the first ten speed bike in Bicknell I believe.

Brenda Sue Holmes (Deweese)

Thanks for the Birthday wishes! And Happy Birthday to all the other June and July birthday babies. I spent my birthday in Zionsville with grandson, Parker! It was great!

Danny - how in the world did you get such cute grandbabies? Must be Brenda's genes, huh?
