Congratulations Grandma Kelly!  She's a sweetie.  Hope mom and baby are doing well.

Reunion thoughts:  would be great to do.  Life is short.  Jeff's '68 reunion was such a success that they are having an informal get together this Saturday at Ouabache Trails park (weather permitting? - I hear rain is in the weekend forecast).

Happy Birthday on Wednesday to Leslie!  Hope you have a great day.  Your birthday could be your lucky day and you will find a new job!  Let us know when you get back to Indiana so those who would want to can meet and get together with you while you are at home.

Kathy,  I kept thinking my visit would be for the class reunion.  But I'm not sure there will be one.  Maybe we can have a girl bash in Vegas?!!

Leslie & Jean,  I kept thinking that there would be some who would want to have a 40 year reunion.  I haven't been in touch with so many for so long I have no idea about the turnout.  I wonder if Rich got much of a response to the Reunion Survey that is on our site?  Life is so short and time does get away from us, but it is a shame that we aren't getting together.  I think the Vegas get together sounds great!!!!

Happy Birthday to You, Rachel and Leslie!

Ok, who wants to meet at Cabello's and discuss reunion plans over baked spaghetti?

Gee Lu I would if I could.  I would even enjoy joining some other class having a reunion.  Any action on class of 85'-25 year?  Class of 80'-30 year? Class of 70'-35 year reuniion?  I thought with the web site that we would probably have a great reuniion this year.  I went to the 5 year but for some reason that's the only one I remember going to.  I guess being so far away puts the task on people still in the area.  Hey maybe I can come back and help plan the party, and then get a job at Susan Toney's place in Freelandville!!! However I could not commute.  Maybe this thought will trigger something and we can start making plans.

Everyone can look at the results of the reunion survey by clicking on the "Reunion Survey" on the left column.  I know reunions fall on the shoulders of those living in the local area.  I know many who have worked on some of our other reunions did a great deal of work to pull off those reunions.  Thanks to those who have done it in the past.  I hope someone steps forward so that we can have some kind of get together at some point.  I do not believe it has to be a big event, but a simple get together where we can get requainted and exchange stories from the past 35 years.  We can spread the word on this website, but I am sure those living in the Knox County area will have to do the work.

Aren't we the Class of 1970 celebrating our 40th? Or did you mean 35 yrs since the reunion in 1975?

Leslie, are you in Vegas?  Is Vegas getting hit by the economy too?

04/29/10 03:49 PM #1539

Richard Finke

Sorry Lu,  I can't add.  I have my 35th reunuion from the Air Force Academy coming up this Fall and I wrote 35 instead of 40.  Yes Vegas has been hit hard by the economy.  We have closed our crew base in Vegas and the two biggest operators in Vegas, US Airways and Southwest have cut back flights tremendously.  They are about giving rooms away there.

It's scarey to see how much different this town is in the past 2 years.  The unemployment rate is huge.  You can drive past developements that are half finished.  Alot of people that worked construction have actually moved since thee is no work  Clark County keeps laying off more people, and business i.e. restaurants, bars, casinos, tile companies, roofing companies etc. have gone out of business.  It's strange to say the least.

Dick,

Enjoyed your pictures at the race track.  Are your knuckles still white or was it not too bad?  Did you also attend the race?

Jean,  The race week starts here in Charlotte next week and ends with the Coke 600 on Memorial Day Weekend, so there was no race.  My daughter Erin bought us 3 laps around the track each for a Christmas present.  It was a lot of fun.  I was impressed with the grip that the cars have on the track.  We got up to 160 mph and I thougt the car would slide but it did not.  I cannot imagine what it must be like with 42 cars out there going around even faster and bumper to bumper while they are going that fast.  Must be wild.

Sorry Dick, I guess you can tell I don't follow Nascar.  If there is a race, the TV is usually on but not watching it as closely as in the past.  Glad to hear you had a great time.  I agree that driving in all that traffic during a race must be unreal.  I think Atlanta traffic is terrible!!!!  Not many traffic jams in Freelandville. lol

Jean,  The NASCAR Hall of Fame opened this week in Charlotte.  You and Bill need to swing a little more east when you go to Florida and visit Tar Heel country.  You are always welcome.
