Dick,

Do you go to the NASCAR races in Charlotte?  How many miles from you home is the track?  I had forgot all about the NASCAR Hall of Fame that was opening in Charlotte.  That may be a way to get Bill to the east coast.  It would be a little different scenery for the ride to Florida!!

Jean, I am about 28 miles from the track, but we own a condo about 3 miles from the track that my son has been living in while he has studied at UNCC.  I don't go to many races. I have been to a few including Darlington and Charlotte.  I keep 5 tickets for Indy every year but usually sell them on Ebay.  My daughter got to attend a pre opening of the Hall of Fame since she works for Holiday Inn Center City.  She said the displays were very good and the technology is very impressive.  You get a computer card and as you go through the Hall it learns the drivers you are interested in and directs you toward that information.  As for the track, they have condos right over the track in the first turn.  About 20 some years ago, when they built them, they sold for like 100,000, but I am sure they are worth much more today.  Another lost opportunity.  Oh well.

Thanks for the graduation memories, Rich.  I'm thinking that day was as hot and humid as it was today!  Could anyone imagine back then where they would be in 40 years?

40 years??  We gotta try to get together sometime this year.  We have a history together, you know?  (Jeff's class' get-together May 1st at Ouabache Trails Park was just as nice as the one last Sept. - and I just heard they're planning another one for August.)

Great pictures Rich!  Thanks!  It is so hard to get my head around the fact that we've been out of HS that long!   Lu, I remember the day as being hot and humid, too....

I was impressed that everyone of the girls seemed to have white shoes.  I kinda doubt that would happen today.  I can't help but wonder who will still be around when we celebrate the 80th.  I am sure there will be a few, but probably not many.  I hope we can get together sometime.

"Happy 40th Anniversary" fellow North Knox Graduates!!

It doesn't seem possible to have graduated 40 years ago today!!!!  It seems like we had small family parties after graduation.  Now we have large full blown get togethers for half the county.  lol  Times have changed.  I also noticed all the white shoes.  I think the dress attire will be a little different on Friday night at North Knox.......???

Happy Birthday Carla Jean!!!! Hope the day is as special as you are.  Just think 4 more years then Social Security here we come.  I was going over your profile last night and for some strange reason I had the memory flash in my mind about one night that I stayed overnight at your house and your Mother made the best bean salad.  Seems my fondest memories revolve around food.

Kathy and Jean;

Thanks for the birthday wishes.  I can't believe how fast time flies.

48 already !  Doesn't seem possible.

Got one of my best gifts ever six years ago, with the birth of my youngest

granddaughter.  She shares this day with me.  I also have an eight year

old granddaughter too.  They make it seem like a birthday everyday !

Hey Jeff!  You still have a sense of humor....You might want to check your birth certificate for your correct age...I think you might need to add a few years to your age!!!  Always keep telling yourself, I'm only 48, I'm only 48, I'm only 48.  Maybe eventually you'll believe it.  Ha! Ha!    Enjoy your birthday with your youngest granddaughter.  A special treat!

Happy Birthday to Mike Summers & Mike Land!  I hope you both have great birthdays!!!

Also, I would like to extend my sympathy to Wayne Boberg, on the death of his father, Richard.   Richard passed away on Sunday, June 6th.

Happy Birthday to ALL June babies

Our thoughts to Wayne and family in the loss of Richard and also heard today Pat Grabbe's father, Roy, passed away. Our thoughts are with you and the family. Pat, just this week I was trying to keep dad straight on you, John & David. He was hoping to see your dad & Aunt June at Beth's funeral. Wasn't sure of the health of either. Dad can sure remember the good old days.

It has been a very strange week or two with the passing of several parents of friends and the passing of some friends of mine here in Charlotte.  I will always remember Richard Boberg and Roy Grabbe.   They were both always supportive to me and our group growing up.  I remember Richard at the fair, ball games, and school events.  I remember Roy as the IH man and someone who took Pat and myself to the Indy qualifications and to the movies in Bicknell.  I will always remember them with fond memories.

Wow Rich.  Great addition to the message forum!  Look at us - not a wrinkle in sight.  Reminds me of something a woman wrote.  She was just glad that wrinkles don't hurt (unlike other parts of the aging body) - Ha!

Welcome, Jeff Young - which grade school did you attend?

Belated (and future) greetings to June birthday boys and girls!

Cathy Mason Griggs - it was nice to talk to you last Saturday! (We met at the Chambers cemetery [across the road from where Joe Robbins grew up] where my 4-greats-grandfather Alexander Chambers, a Revolutionary War veteran, is buried.  Cathy is in the DAR and they were part of a ceremony to dedicate a new gravestone for him.)
