Norm, Rich: what a coincidence to be thinking of Sammy Terry!  Last Friday I was "baby" sitting grandsons Trenton (12) and Gabriel (6).  Gabriel had already zonked out and Trenton and I were watching some late night TV.  I happened to think of Sammy Terry and shared with Trenton, suggesting he get on the internet and google ST.  We watched the same clip you put here, Rich, and others too.  What memories!  My brother Bill and I tried to stay awake on Friday nights, sometimes we made it, sometimes not....and sometimes we could not get the station to come in on our old black & white TV.

I remember having watched Sammy Terry, but not frequently.  He was a little too weird for me.

Here is something I found interesting.  I guess Sammy Terry was Bob Carter who must have also done wrestling for the station in Indianapolis.  Here, Mr. Carter interviews Wilbur Snyder, who I imagine we all remember as the good guy in wrestling.  Thought you might like to see what Sammy really looked like.

Ah yes.....I remember late nights at the Brooks Hotel (when Grump lived there) watching Channel 4 "Big Time Wrestling" at 1:00 am ............Wilbur Snyder "The World's Most Scientific Wrestler" !!!!   Anyone remember these names:

Yukon "Moose" Cholak (from parts unknown), The Sheik, Mitzu Arakawa, Rip Hawk (saw him wrestle at Bicknell Gym in very early 60's), Cowboy Bob Ellis, Dick The Bruiser, The Crusher, Blackjack Lanza, BoBo Brazil and Spike Huber.

Grump and my brother actually drove Grump's '51 Plymouth (with little or no brakes) to Indianapolis to watch Channel 4 wrestling one Sat. night in the early 70's. Lottsa fake blood and warm Sterling beer ! LOL

I believe (correct me if I am wrong) Sammy Terry was from Terre Haute.

43 years ago as we were starting our Sophomore year at North Knox, this song was very popular.  Enjoy.

Thanks for the well wishes Kathy...60 now!!   Sheesh...who da thunk it??

Seeing your HS picture sure brings back a lot of memories??  Interesting reading your bio too...glad to see things are good for you.   I was born in Linton and a few years ago Noi & I were looking at buying some property in the area...but we ultimately chose not to.

Bob

The class of '68 had another "Get Together", a low key mini-reunion of sorts, on 21 Aug.   21 classmates met at Ray Chattin's home near Decker where Juergen Stark cooked brats, attendees brought dishes, and we all ate very well.   In true class of '68 tradition some drinking was done as well :)

Had a great time just visiting with old friends.  We'll do it again in the Spring.

Encourage you guys to get together...you'll enjoy it I'm sure.

Bob

Okay class of 1970.

How many of you would like to get together in some sort of get together?

When would be the best day to do it?

Where would you like to have the event?

Next spring?

We need to have time for scheduling for everyone who would like to be there so we need at least a few months to accomodate everyone.

1969 Henry Archer, Jr.

My wife and I attended a wedding reception for the son and new daughter-in-law of friends of ours at Oak Meadow Country Club in Evansville last evening. Sharing the evening at our dinner table was former NKHS teacher and now Princeton attorney Jerry Stilwell and his wife. I told Jerry about this website and encouraged him to check it out sometime. I am sure many of you will remember Jerry. He is a good guy!

We need some help hear on Mr. Roche in the 64-65 picture from Bicknell.  Tom Held and myself think he coached us in 7th grade at Freelandville, 64-65.  Can someone set us straight????  Kathy, thanks for filling in the names.

09/08/10 04:13 PM #1670

1971 Jeff Young (Former Bicknell)

I guess with a little help we will get at least most of the names. Its sad I was there and cant remember.

I think next to Norman in glasses is Walter Brewer Im first on the third row Jeff Young also second row last I think his name was Stan could be wrong and row 4 pic 6 was Karen also could be wrong but might help.

I moved away at the end of this year (1965 ) went to Texas then Okla. so I lost track of a lot of people

Concerning Chuck Roche.....I am sure that is him in the top row (4th from left) in the picture.

As I mentioned to Dick, the only possible explanation is that he was a teacher at Bicknell in '64-'65, but was the basketball coach at Freelandville.

Do any of you Bicknell kids recall him teaching there in your 7th grade year ?

I used to run into Mr. Roche once in awhile when I was still running my RC Cola route in Vincennes. He looks good and has many good memories of teaching and coaching at Freelandville. He has horses and keeps them at the stable out at the Green Farms Addition, just off of Old Hwy. 67.

Yes, Mr. Roche taught at Bicknell while we were in junior high.  Back then I had no idea he was the coach at Freelandville.

Kathy, here's some more names!

Top: Mr. Roche is to the right of Mrs. Donham, (Mr. Goodman is Mr. Goode),  Lea Miller 2nd from right.

2nd: (Did anyone hear Gary Ring recently passed away?) Walter Brewer with glasses, Lisa Christy 2nd from right

3rd: 3rd from left Greg Bourlard, (Randy W), Trava Tooley

4th: Sharon Sullivan, (?), Ellen Arthur, (?), (?), Karen Conrad, Chris Pack, (Rick W), Teddy Strahley

Last: Debbie Pickel, Rosalee Alston, Chuck Campbell..................

Brenda - Sandra, do you know any of them?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL THE SEPTEMBER CELEBRATORS!

Norman- Yes, we kids at Freelandville really liked Mr. Roche as a teacher and basketball / track coach, also. I can recall riding with him to Jr. High track meets in his Corvair convertable.

Well.....I must confess to looking up a couple of faces in the yearbook

What have we been up to this summer?  June - Jeff & I vacationed in Destin FL (No Oil!), Chambers reunion, Gabriel's T-ball games, celebrated Father's Day/Derek's 30th birthday (my baby is 30???) with all the kids and Jeff's dad & mom after his dad got out of rehab (physical, not drug lol); July - Byrer reunion on the 4th, Spring Mill with Trenton & Gabriel, Children's Museum with Gavin & Ava, lunch at Abe Martin Lodge-Brown County State Park with old friends; Labor Day weekend I sang with the community choir (after 2 months of practices).  Jeff was on vacation late Aug/Sept, but by then I had begun a part time job at F'ville Community Home as activity assistant AND then sort of unexpectedly went from part time to full time secretary at Hospice; so we took a real short trip to Evansville overnight.  It was the weekend of the Frog Follies.  We didn't have to go there and pay to get in - a lot of old cars were parked in the two hotel lots in the area we stayed, and we wandered around checking them out.  Ate dinner at the Edgewater Grill in Newburgh, which was sooo special.  We ate out on the deck overlooking the Ohio River, listening to Bob somebody playing a keyboard and singing all the old favorites.  Jeff spent his vacation days tearing out the plaster & lathe ceiling in the spare bedroom and then repainting the room "awesome violet".  Now I gotta do the trim.  No wonder I'm feeling pooped.  Well, I am rambling on.  What's everyone else been up to??

P.S.  My grandbaby girl Ava turns 2 tomorrow.  Happy birthday sweetie!
