I thought BE was for Belmont. Maybe not. Mine was BE3-4390. How can I remember that and not remember the combination to the safe at work that I use every day???

Carol,

We are getting older now. We can't remember that far back.

Carrol Reneau (Jeffers)

Remember what? And, BTW, is that an admission that you made most all of the high school memory stuff up? I suspected as much all along.

06/29/09 12:47 PM #1420

Mike Strickland

That is my learned opinion as well.

We've entered the "Monsoon" season up here in Cloudcroft so that like in Florida - every afternoon has the chance for rain. Not heavy. Light sprinkles and cool temps. Afternoon highs in the 60's when it rains - in the 70's when it's sunny. I really, really, really do not miss the hot humid days down there. I remember doing all my outside work during the summer from 6am to 10am and then trying to stay indoors all afternoon.

Going to see the new Transformers movie this afternoon. Yes, you can be 59 and still like Transformers!

Winona Hebert (Spinks)

Could houstongirl1 be Mary Metzger?
**********************************************************
It could be . . . it could be anyone. It isn't the email in her profile. Keep thinking, Winona, I have great confidence in you.

Just to get our brains in gear. Jr. High memory. Does anybody remember going to Band Camp at Hunt? What was the name of the Camp and how long did we stay? Remember riding in school buses with no air conditioning? Our group always stopped at Seguin.

Dee Allen

Was I in the band?

A twirler?

06/30/09 12:57 PM #1431

Dee Allen

That explains that sequined leotard in the back of the closet. Janet will be relieved.

06/30/09 01:41 PM #1432

Dee Ann Trout (Glenn)

Yes, you were a twirler. I remember you had the sexist legs of them all...but lacking in the "chest" area.

06/30/09 01:43 PM #1433

Dee Ann Trout (Glenn)

But, maybe I meant sexiest legs.

Dickie,
Would you put the Fight Song on the 1968 message forum? I think lots of our group would enjoy hearing it, if you wouldn't mind sharing with us. Thanks, Judy

Nancy, band camp was at Camp LaHunta, and I think we would leave early, early Monday morning and return Friday or Saturday evening. My Mom always sent me a tin of homemade chocolate chip cookies. She probably made them and mailed them before we left so that I would be sure to receive them before we returned home. The buses always entered the camp by driving over the stone bridge that had water spilling over it. We could swim in the river, but we had to always be within reach of our buddy. I remember the dorms with lots of daddy long-leg spiders. The guys would freak the girls out by catching the spiders and putting the them all over themselves. Gross! The bands rotated marching practice on the field in the afternoon because it was so blasted hot!!! I also remember that toward the end of the week, there was a talent show. Lip-sync was a particularly favorite talent. ("Stop in the Name of Love") Does anyone remember Ann Vickers imitating Mr. Ernest Clark in his safari outfit, limp and all? And there was always a dance the last night of band camp. Wonderful memories! It was a great experience because we got to meet kids and make friends from the other schools and it helped pave the way for the blending of our schools for 10th through 12th grades. I made friends with some great people from Lake Jackson and Clute. I think it was so sad when the school split to form Brazoswood. Necessary, but sad.

The band camp experience was great back then. My family was NOT one of those that went to Garner, so band camp was as close as I got. Funny you should mention band camp. I was just going through old pictures today and came across some from camp. Only one was of a person and that was Tommy Neel - my trombone friend. I was going to post it but it is very faded.
