Joy Garrett (Chessher)

Hi Kitty...happy you made it back safely! I meant to call you last week, but my son Tom was very ill, and I was helping him with Jolie! It was so great to see you! I hope your business is going well! Talk to you soon....

Well....I am back to Austin, and had a great time in Los Angeles!!! It was so great to spend time with #3 son and friends!!! Josh McDowell spoke at a conference Saturday night...amazing! Have ya'll ever heard his testimony? He has written over 100 books, and donated $41 million to Campus Crusade for CHRIST from his royalties! GOD does work things for GOOD for those that love HIM. I learned so much from him in two days!!! WOW...he does make you think!!! Did you know that the New Testament of the Bible has over 26,000 authentic manuscripts printed from the original document? The paper they used to write it on would deterioate so they would copy it from the original document. It has more than any other historical writing...the Illiad 2nd to the Bible has about 647 manuscripts! GOD wanted us not to doubt that HIS word is true, and he left us over 26,000 manuscripts that are identical to the original document. Josh McDowell has spent his life proving the Bible is true, and that is why he donates every dime of his royalties to GOD so that people will have a relationship with HIM. I have more to share, and if you are interested you can email me anytime!!!!! I love to learn!!!!! Yippppppppppppppeeee!!!

Wow Judy so proud of you! You are an "accomplished woman!" I have no doubt that you will do great!!! I remember sometime when I was in college writing a paper or taking a test that I would ask GOD to give me the words or test answers...HE did, and I would always make good grades!!!! Can you believe it I was on the Dean's list at least 5 times??!!! LOL...thank you GOD for seeing me through!!!! I need help people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is Monday, and my favorite daughter in laws birthday!!! hahahaha only have one daughter in law! She is so happy that I am not the monster in law! I love her as if she is my own daughter, and so thankful GOD sent my son a great woman!!! Now if HE would bring the other 3 sons one...I will be so happy!!!!! The Chessher men have a committment problem I think!!! It is in the genes.....

Have a great day everyone!
GOD bless you all and protect you.
Love,
JOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :0)

Well, it finally happened. I have been cut back to 20 hrs per week at work---SOOOOO- if anyone needs a part-timer, I'm available. I know that God will take care of us, so I'm not worried. HL may be working out of Houston for a while. Please pray that this job comes thru for him. Thanks, everyone.

Jacque Webster (Andrews)

An update on my husband, Jim. He had his first post-op PSA test and got the SUPER results of 0.01! No radiation and six months until he goes back to the doctor! Thanks for your prayers!

09/21/09 04:22 PM #2290

Judy Teague (Crenshaw)

Yeah, Jacque!! Numbers don't tell me anything, but You said it was good and that's all I need. Praise God!

Guys, I turned in another paper today via internet. I wanted my friend to watch me so I would know I was doing it right. She wasn't at school today so I was on my own!!!

During my lunch I actually copied and pasted it into the little box the prof. wanted it in. Then after several checks, I took a deep breath and hit submit. After that, there is no retrieval. I went to eat lunch and was shaking all over and could hardly breathe.

Now I have to study for a test, chat with a discussion group and report, then write another paper before Saturday.

Thanks for your sweet encouragement. One day at a time, right. I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

OMGoodness...what a thrill to get on the site and see how well everyone is doing today!

Joy...just being your beautiful Joy-ful self sharing the Word! Are we going to move forward together?!

Jacque so thrilled to hear about your husband's recovery and prognosis!

Okay, Margaret, God has a better plan for you! It will be so fun to discover what that is!

And Judy...I hope you're proud of yourself! We're all so proud of you...good job today!

NOTE: Mr. Magee has been hospitalized. Following are messages forwarded to me by a Class of '67 member and includes a prayer for the Magee family written by David Lowrie.

If you'd like to send a note to the Magee family, their e-mail address is momopopo@yahoo.com. I'm sure they will appreciate your love and support.

****************
"Just a quick note to let the class and especially the choir members know that Mr. Magee is in the hospital.
Linda Bland Watson sent the following message regarding his latest condition.

"He is in Brazosport Memorial. He fell a couple of days ago and he has seven broken
ribs. Tests have also revealed a blod clot in his adbdomen that they are trying to
dissolve. Donna is wearing herself out trying to teach and be with her parents.
She needs our prayers too."

Please keep Mr. Magee and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,
Darlene

**************Message from David Lowrie . . .

"Darlene,
I hope I can reply to you at this address.
While working at my computer and reading the post concerning Mr Magee, I believe the Lord birthed a prayer in my heart.
If you can, would you please forward it to Mr Magee or someone in the Family that would be able to read it as a prayer for Mr Magee.
I even had the thought that it be forwarded to the entire class mailing list (or maybe if there is a choir mailing list). Others might just want to add a note
saying."we join our heart and faith to this prayer" and forward it to Mr Magee.
________________________________

Dear Heavenly Father,
We pray this prayer of faith for our friend and teacher, John Magee.

Your written Word tells us that "we have not because we ask not" and Jesus says that
"greater works shall we do because I go to the Father". And again in the book of
Matthew 21:21 Jesus says that we can "speak unto the mountain, and it be cast into
the sea".

We admit our concern and prayer for John Magee is self-centered, and based on our
love and deep appreciation for who he is, and the gift from heaven that he has been
to all of us. But as we remember our Lords time on this earth we remember the many
times that loved ones brought their friends and family to the Master's that He might
touch them, or speak the word, and they be healed.

So; Mr. Magee...
We take that authority given to us, who believe, and we say to that sickness; "be
gone". In the name of Jesus, we say to those bones "be healed" and we say to every
fiber of your being; "to be whole, to be complete and to be filled with vitality and
strength". And we tell you to "rise up and walk in a new and infused strength from
on high, with His presence resting on you in new and magnified ways that you have
not yet known."
Father, we speak, and ask for Your peace upon the Magee family, but especially upon
Donna, as she ministers to her daddy and still tries to keep up with her school and
family responsibilities. Donna; we speak "God's grace" to you as we even remind
ourselves that God's grace is more than sufficient. "May the joy of the Lord be
your strength in this hour and forever."
Father; we pray these things, not only because we believe in You, but because we
desperately want to believe You.
We thank You for Your faithfulness, we thank You for Your goodness, and most of all
we thank You for Your great love for Mr. Magee, for his family, and for all of us.
We pray these things, and we believe these things in the name of Jesus the Christ,
who takes away the sins of the world.

Amen,

Class of 67, and all those who came before us and after us

Judy Teague (Crenshaw)

I agree also with the prayers for Mr. Magee. Wow, what a wonderful prayer. It says it all, doesn't it.

How wonderful this website is!

I remember singing the Messiah every year. People here can't believe that. We not only did it, but we were good!

Messiah, scripture for our motto...no wonder we turned out the way we did. God is true to His Word. We were naive and young without a clue to where God would take us. But our simple faith in Him and His Word allowed Him to do miraculous things in the years since. He is a BIG GOD!

Changing the subject a bit; Tony embarrassed me this weekend. Cowboys are supposed to always win! He just kept giving them the ball. He just doesn't seem to have the drive of a winner like, say, ROGER STAUBACH!!!woohoo. My hero. Love him. Roger! Roger! Roger!

I used to house sit in Dallas when I lived there in the early 70's. Someone called one day and it was D.D. Lewis (#50). We sat for him while he went to Super Bowl twice, Pro Bowl two or three times, and vacation before the season started. One time, they had just left their house and the phone rang. I answered it and it was Charlie Waters!!!!(#43) He and Cliff Harris were trying to hook up with him before they got on the plane for the super bowl. While we watched the Super Bowl on his tv, my husband wore D.D.'s Super Bowl ring from their first win. DD was always so gracious and generous to us but didn't know we would have stayed there for free!!!

(If you are a long time Cowboy fan, you will know those names I just dropped.)

I agree, great prayer for The Magees

Dear Judy, I heard the report today for the state of Georgia. I pray you aren't in the area of flooding. Please let us know. I have a cousin in Atlanta. God Bless You and May the Lord Keep You Safe! Luv ya!!!!

Counting down the days til I'm in Austin!!!!!!!

09/22/09 09:37 PM #2302

Judy Teague (Crenshaw)

Marian, thanks for thinking of me. No I am not up there but my sons and family are. In fact I drove up there for my daughter-in-law's shower Saturday. I went throught a horrible downpour halfway there. I wanted to turn around but the road was under construction and I was afraid I would miss my exit. I am safe down here in the south with the gnats. You know they were one of the 10 plagues.

Ya'll have a blast in Austin. I am jealous.

Joe, well, didn't want to brag but during that Cowboy era, DD got us a team picture, We had Robert Newhouse and Tony Dorsett's autograph. We went to the downtown parade for their welcome home after their super bowl. Love the Cowboys, especially Tom Landry!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN D.

Betty Beck

for all you in the area Fri./ Sat. we're having a HUGE garage sale at my house. 110 Sunflower, LJ (off Daffodil 3 blocks off of 2004) trying to get rid of a lot of STUFF (remember the George Carlin bit?) so I don't have to get a bigger house.

09/23/09 09:31 PM #2305

Alice Day (Smith)

Well, I am proud of the Texans...and to think we are second in our division -- above the Titans!! Woowho!

Cowboys -- OUCH! I guess we can't blame Tony Romo's bad performance on "Jessica Simpson" anymore can we???

I met and shook hands with Terry Bradshaw last week. Eddie and I work for the Get Motivated organization, and Terry is one of their speakers recently. He is SO MUCH MORE HANDSOME in person than on TV, and more trim. Huge hands!!! No wonder he won so many Superbowls.

Mr. Magee is in our daily prayers right now. Oh heavenly Father, cover this family with your grace and mercy.

Judy, I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PROUD OF YOU!

09/23/09 09:44 PM #2306

Marian Sahr (Bullard)

Watched GHOST tonite. I guess we are all entitled to a good cry sometimes.
Betty, good luck on your garage sale. Hope the rain stays away. Your sale made me think of our trips to Brownwood to escape the hurricanes. Then our momma's would go and look thru the Red Cross stuff. Too funny. Visited your mom the other day. I told her how much I love her and she said "Marian Helen, I love you very much.". Made my day!!!

The most difficult times in our lives is when our loved ones are ill. GOD bless Mr. Magee, and comfort him..taking his pain and giving him peace. May his family stand strong knowing that our LORD is right there with him, and taking such good care of him.

Ya'll love football...and I love the Texas Longhorns!!! Hook em Horns!!!!

Judy, you are sounding so confident! Keep up the good work!!!

Marian...call me when you come to Austin...we are playing phone tag...sorry I have been so busy lately with family and business!!!!

Gary Vance...how are you feeling? I hope you are continuing to heal!!!

John...how is your new grandson...aren't grandchildren a blessing?!! Today, Jolie asked me if she might have the power when she goes to Heaven to make it rain like JESUS did?!!!! Then she sang HIM some beautiful songs!!! It is amazing what she asks!!! She said today that Goofy on Mickey Mouse was going to fall off the train, and that was "disasterous!!!!" 3 years old!!!! She is a talker like her Nanny...huh?!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey...do ya'll remember how we always wore our hair in curlers in high school? It reminded me of it when Jolie had me do her hair in sponge rollers!!! The curls turn out so smooth! I am going to try it!!!

I haven't had any reports about your skin programs ladies! Any problems? Stay on the program!!! I have lost 33 pounds...finally over the plateau!!!!

Miss you all...have a good night...sweet dreams!
GOD bless you all...and love you all!
Take good care of yourselves, and eat healthy...this is the MOM in me!!! hahahahaha...born to be a MOM!!!
JOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:0) yippppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Pat Bass (Ray)

Alice, I was a Cowboy fan first, then a huge season ticket holder Oiler fan, but have always loved Terry Bradshaw. Watch Fox football just to see him before, after, and at halftime-especially always loved to see him and Howie Long interact. I am just so jealous that you got to meet him.
I have to admit that I lost my enthusiasm for the Cowboys when Mr. Jones took over. I will always be a Tom Landry fan and thought that the way things were handled after the sale was terrible. Til then, the Cowboys had always been such a class act. I long for the days of Bob Lilly and Randy White. Tho I will admit to a great deal of admiration for Emmett Smith as well. Hmm, maybe that's cause he was also so great on Dancing With The Stars, my not so guilty pleasure.
I do still miss my Oilers, especially those from the Bum Phillips era. Luv ya blue! Haven't yet been able to muster the same enthusiasm for the Texans, but am trying. Earl Campbell will be a hard act to follow.
And I know I will get boos for this, but I have to admit I like the Manning guys. I always felt sorry for Archie who was a really good quarterback on a really lousy team. But I bet he is happier seeing his sons succeed than anything he could have imagined for himself. They seem like such a great family.
I am just glad it's football season!

Gary Vance

First, Thanks to David for such a powerful prayer for Mr. Magee...I say Yes Lord and please hold Agnes, Donna and Little John in your loving, comforting hands during this great trial. Amen.

Wow! All this talk about the good old days of when Cowboys really were Cowboys and the Oilers were always "also rans". I spent many Sunday afternoons watching both teams play on tv after Sunday dinner. I can remember all the way back to pre-Don Meredith days when a little fella named Eddie Lebaron would duel with other quarterback greats like Y.A. Tittle and Johnny Unitas. The Pokes would usually lose, but in a grand fashion. I still ache over the bitter loss to the Packers and Bart Star in the sub zero "ice bowl" and the embarrassing dropped pass in the end zone by Jackie Smith against the Steelers in Super Bowl XIII.

Thank goodness for Roger Staubach, the Navy guy who was perhaps the greatest scrambling, gunslinger quarterback ever. He helped turn the Cowboys into "God's team"...I kinda wonder who's team they are now. Oh well, I still pull for my Cowboys.

I always loved the Oilers too and my dream was for an Oilers vs Cowboys Super Bowl. You guys know I live in Tennessee, so you can imagine my amazement when the Oilers followed me out here. Does anyone remember the Oilers winning AFL Championships with George Blanda quarterbacking and kicking field goals? Gosh I'm old!! I actually have a Tennessee Oilers tee shirt buried in my drawer. Too bad Bud Adams was such a bizarre owner and alienated the whole state of Texas from a wonderful franchise. Thankfully, he's maintained a lower profile in Nashville. I am a moderate fan of the Titans and haven't really followed the Texans much...I did notice they spanked the Titans Sunday.

My deepest loyalty to a sports team is reserved for the Houston Rockets. I have pulled for them from their inception. Elvin Hayes, Rudy T., Calvin Murphy, Ralph Sampson, Hakeem Olajuwon (my personal favorite), and now the ensemble of Yao, TMac, and some really amazing players who extended the Lakers to seven games without the super stars in the lineup. NBA tips off soon and I can't wait. I believe the Rockets will surprise some folks this year while the prognosticators don't give them a chance...anyone remember David and Goliath. Go Red!

I got satellite tv this spring just to watch the Rockets advance to the second round. I recorded the Laker series on the DVR and thought I would keep those games in my personal Rocket archives forever...Unfortunately, my wife who is even more technology challenged than myself, accidentally erased everything on the DVR while I was away at the Reunion. Our lawyers are currently haggling over the divorce settlement...just kidding. Anyone happen to possess a copy of those games? You could probably make a lot of money off of me...I still have credit at my bank.

OK...my latest health news...Tuesday's surgery seemed to go fine. I'm waiting to hear back on the pathology. I feel fine, a little soreness in the arm. Thanks again for all your prayers...you guys are truly the "class" of '69.

God bless you all and thanks for indulging my nostalgic sports ramblings!

Gary
