Jan A. Zarkin

I am hopeful that I can attend. As I mentioned before, I have ALS. If at all possible I will be there whether in a wheelchair or a hospital bed. My wife, Joann, may need help getting me in. I doubt we will be staying in a hotel since we are in Fairmount, Philadelphia and it isn't that long of a ride.  I understand that there is a  $40 or $50 fee. Is that once or does my wife have to pay also. My voice sucks so don't call me.  Email me at jzarkin@gmail.com or text me at 215-479-4706.  My voice sucking is very difficult for me.  It screws up my Karaoke. Also I can't cut my fingernails but I can pick my nose a lot better.

Hope to see you all there.  My memory sucks so I might not remember your name. Actually I have 11,000 names in my phone because I owned a restaurant for 25 years so maybe it's just an overabundance of names Had lunch with Joe Carter yesterday.

Let me know where to send the funds for the reunion. And I would appreciate knowing where the reunion is.

Jan, and everyone else, it is $40 and it only applies to the class, not spouses/partners.  Sorry for the confusion I caused.

So far 21 classmates have replied that they will attend and whether or not the want a "cup".  And Jerry, if you need a jock to carry it, we will get you one.

Be well All and get your classmates to sign up for the reunion and sign up for the site,

Clark

Zip,

You get there and we will make sure you know who is around you, they will all be your Classmates.  You keep on going and the rest of us will keep on praying and reading to see if this Medical Society comes up with some posative things.  It's late and I'm tired but I'm sending you a pick me up.  You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose, but the relatives you just have let them fly free.  You be well my friend and do all the right things that are asked of you, the outcome  is up to the guy up there!  If I can do anything to help you please don't give it a second thought, JUST CALL AND I WILL COME.  Ed Farrell.

rHey Guys,  Here's a picture of the BELL.  Very well done Ed and Jim.  In the next message I'll relay the true story of "The Bell Caper" as told by the guys who pulled it off.  Sorry it's on it's side, but that's the only way I could do it.

The reason the Bell has a hase on it is because it was being polished when the picture was taken.  Anyone who would like to see it up right, send me you E-mail and Ill send yuou a copy.  Ed Farrell

Clark,  Just to keep you posted, I just booked a room at the Best Western for October 14 & 15.  The price was $119.89 per night.   Make sure that my name is on the cup list.   Looking forward to seeing everyone - Henry Faryna, Bath, NY.

Col. Bill Usmc (Ret. ) Symolon

Ed and All,

I have the names of 20 classmates who want a cup and 10 classmates who I don't have a commitment from.  The final decision on cups is awaiting the Committee meeting decision to be held in April, to include how we will collect money for the cups.  Here are the names I have confirmed:

Jerry Johnson, Zip Zarkin, Clark Wonderland, Zoomer, Jeff Travers, Charlie Eichenberg, Ed Farrell,  Jim Lees, Hal Marshal, Shelley Horwitz, Larry Geter,  Ted Zak, Jay Repetto, Ed Carpenter, Frank Platt, Gordon Hanscom, Bob Grosch, Frank Pellegrini, John Snowden, and Me.

Unconfirmed as of now: Joe Kelb, Jim McCall, Ed Taddeo, Mike Hernandez, Dave Irons, Walt Hemphill, Henry Faryna, Walt Noscito, Jim Vaules, and "Viesturs" Drupa.

The Cup decision must be made by early Aug with money collected in order to get the engraving done.  I don't have a form to send out.  The front of the cup would say "PMC Class of 1966".  On the back would be whatever name you want and Cadet # if desired.

Semper Fi To All My Reprobates-in-Arms !

Symolon sends.

OK, Mike.  You got it.   Bill

You know what??? Mike is on to a great idea. Honestly, enrgaved Canteen Cups for everyone would be very cool, and holding with our military backgrounds. Also will probably significantly hold down the expense of the "Cup". I think you should float the idea to '66. I think that only prissey guys (if there are any) won't necessarily like the idea.

03/07/16 04:48 PM #243

Col. Bill Usmc (Ret. ) Symolon

Jerry, I like your idea (and Mike's), but I have priced these cups/mugs/glasses in varying sizes.  I have not priced a canteen cup, but I know it would be cost prohibitive judging from what I have found....on top of all the other Reunion expenses.   We won't get the Reunion Committee decision on current proposals until April and then we start pushing the window of time to get all the info & money collected and cups ordered and engraved.  As John Lynch has already told me, they still are working on monies collected to cover the Hospitality Room.

A last ditch option might be for those interested who may not like the final proposal to get their own version of a cup, mug, or canteen cup...or beer stein !    The original thought was something "shot glass size" for toasting.

This is a big job with lots of moving parts spread over the East Coast and most of the country !   Somehow, however, it will all come together.

Col Bill,

Having fun yet?  Should Jim and I just send the $40.00 and the info we want on our cups to you directly?  You think the cups are something: try a "Bell"!  Now John want all the monies for the Hospitality room, good luck.  Just ask the Class to come on board and try to make things happen,  You want a great Reunion then stop fooling and make it happen!  Send in the Moneies and commit to the time and make the contact you have to make.  We're all in our seventies, by now hopefully you can make your mind up!  Maybe, Bill you have to publish an Order and tell them how to go about it, come on Classmates make this happen!!!!!!!  So they told you it would be easy...........  If I can help you Bill, please give me a call!

Gerald F. Jr. Johnson

Billy;

I'm good with any container you decide to go with, or we could just all drink out of the same bottle and screw the cups!! Logistics is always a challenge.

Ed: We're all in our seventies physically. Mentally, we're still Rooks........ at least for the time being!!

Billy: I think it would be wise for you to proceed with the Cup purchase requests only after you have received the $$$ from the respective individual. That way, you don't get stuck footing the bill for some kindred spirit's enthusiasm, who then falls off the face of the Earth, joins ISIS, or decides to do a world tour with Tito Mambo. Pensions are tight even for a retired Full Colonel with SS.

Regards to all,

Jer

Jerry,

Your right some people just don't see past thier nose, maybe some just have not grown-up yet.  The Real World is out there and it is not stopping to let anyone just step off.  In my opinion, this is a great opportunity to get together and talk about the old days and the things we did and some may have wanted to change them, but yesterday is gone and the only way is forward!  So stop the crap, and make that first step toward having a blast at OUR 50TH REUNION.  All of you are ROCK STARS, JUST ASK YOUR GRANDCHILDREN.  If no one else can make you SMILE they can.  The new word is JUST DO IT.  HAVE A GREAT DAY,  HOPE ALL IS WELL WITH YOUR FAMILY.  Jerry SMILE!  Look forward to seeing you at Lunch on the 12th.  Ed.

PS  Col Bill,  Will send you a check at the end of the week, after I see Jim.  It will cover both of us.  Put your form up on the web site and anyone who is in will complete it and send in thier money.  Good Luck! Ed.
