Frank Pellegrini just let me know that Jim Miele, Class of '65, just passed away. I know many of you knew Jim. Below is his obituary:
Hello Class of 1965,
I just learned that James J. Miele ’65 has passed away.
JAMES MIELE James Joseph Miele passed away April 13, 2016, shortly after being diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. During his final days on this Earth, he was surrounded by his friends and the warmth from their hearts put a permanent smile on Jimmy's face that will be forever remembered. Jim's outgoing personality and presence radiated everywhere he went. He left a positive impression in everyone that he met. Jim graduated Pennsylvania Military College at as lieutenant, spent three years is active service a U.S. Army Ranger with the 22nd Infantry serving on the Korean DMZ. He was honorably discharged as a captain. He trained and was selected to represent the United States in the decathlon at the Tokyo 1964 Olympics, but an injury prohibited his participating. He dedicated his life to clean living and physical fitness. He worked for 40 years in sales and was always a number one salesperson. He never met a person in an athletic gym to whom he would not offer help. At the age of 70, the Veteran's Administration determined he had the body of a 34 year old. Jim was one in a million. The happiness that he spread will forever grow within the hearts of those that knew him. Jim is survived by his sister, Sandy Miele Leary; two daughters, Jennifer Miele Polidori and Jessica Jopes; son, James Miele Jr.; and well as five grandchildren. His friends and family are invited to a celebration of Jim's life, noon-6 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at 40 Desert Rain Lane, Henderson, NV 89074.
I am so sorry for your loss.
Jessica
