I taught political science at Oakland Community College from 1967 until my retirement in 2013. I was at the Royal Oak Campus from 1974 until my retirement where I was chair the Behavioral Sciences Department and the faculty union for many years. I was actively involved in union and college politics throught my tenure at OCC. My wife (who teaches at OCC) and I made numerous presentations at higher education conferences in the past. I have dropped out of the conference scene, however I often accompany my wife as she gives key note speeches at national and international conferences on sustainability and climate change.

Unfortunately, high school was a painful time for me. I moved into the Redford area just prior to high school and was somewhat shy. I delivered newspapers for spending money and I don't think I was involved in any school clubs or extracurricular activites. However, I took college prep classes and I feel that I got a solid education, regardless of my personal situation of social obliviousness.

My oldest son and his family live in Bethesda, MD so we often travel to Washington, DC. All of our other children are still in Michigan. However, with extended family in Florida and Seattle, we typically drive or fly to the Pacific Northwest every summer and to Florida in the winter.

I'm pleased to say that I'm finally happily married (after numerous attempts) and madly in love with my wife. We have a blast together - we are very fortunate in that all of our children and grandchildren are healthy and leading productive lives. We can travel as much as we want and we do.

I'm now retired after 46 years at OCC. Deb and I now live in Brighton on 35 acres with a pond in our front yard. We have a Great Dane and 2 Bernese Mountain Dogs. We do some organic gardening in our hoop house and external gardens. We enjoy our picturesque setting and lots of wildlife which has significantly reduced our travels, except in the winter.
