Steve Ferrill

    Stephen Ferrill           July 20, 1946 — February 3, 2023

Stephen Paul Ferrill was born on July 20th, 1946, in Seattle, Washington. He left this world on February 3rd, 2023, after a valiant 42-month battle with (GBM) brain cancer.

He was preceded in death by his mother Mozelle, father Cecil, sister Janice (Irle), stepson James Miller and son Steve II.

He is survived by the love of his life and best friend Donna whom he was together with for 53 years (married for 51), his son Brian Ferrill and daughter Mindy (Ferrill) Lennon. He has 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Steve graduated from Edmonds High School and was involved in Scouting achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.

He was a lifelong businessman. His business acumen grew the family business, Ferrill's Auto Parts (Pull-A-Part), into one of the largest in the Northwest with 3 locations supporting 60 families.

He was a huge contributor the business community. He was president of the trade association that became the Auto Recyclers of Washington. He belonged to the major automotive associations including the Auto Recyclers Association, Automotive Service Association and the Autobody Craftsman Association. He served on numerous committees and boards over the years. Steve was twice recognized with the nationwide President's Award from the Auto Recyclers Association for his contributions to the industry.

A long-time community supporter, Steve was a member of the Rotary Club of Lynnwood serving on various committees including Chairman of the club's International Air Fair. He then joined the newly formed Rotary Club of Alderwood continuing his service there. He was a member of the Edmonds Community College Foundation Board of Trustees, the Stevens Hospital Foundation and other organizations.

Steve along with Mary Hale lead the creation, funding and building of the Center for Families at EDCC a facility for teaching early childhood learning.

When he wasn't hard at work he and Donna enjoyed traveling around the U.S. his favorite spot being Yellowstone National Park. He also bicycled in the Netherlands and visited his former exchange student in Germany.

Most of all he enjoyed being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was a kind, loving man and will be missed by all.

Wow, what a remarkable life!  I didn't know Steve in school, but I knew the family business.  Many times, Chuck Miller or Gary Mouat (both EHS '65) and I would scavenge for parts at Ferrill's to keep our jalopies running.  I never connected the name to a classmate until now.

Sounds like Steve was a very busy guy and one who was involved in his community and tried to make a difference in this world.  It our time, oh, do we all need more people like that making a difference in a myriad of ways.
