So sorry to hear of George's passing. After I helped him file his VA claim in 2007 or 2008, he mentioned moving to eastern Washington, never heard from him again.
I served with George in the Navy in Vietnam. He was always smiling, friendly and he always had our back if it hit the fan and it did many times. He was a buddy to the kids in the village we were assigned to in the Civic Action Program -- we lived and worked in the village area and ran patrols with the security forces.
He was quite a character in Vietnam on the Advisory team. He had a M38 -older jeep -- put on straight exhaust pipes and wide forklift tires. He named his jeep 'Nellie Bell' and put it on below the windshield. We could hear him far away returning to the village. He was popular with the kids too.
When I saw his [school] picture and the grin , I knew it was the same George Fournie from Vietnam.
