Thank you for posting this. I knew her and her son, Doug. I think he was a year ahead of us.  All good people, good memories. Thank you.

I saw in today's paper that Mary Duffy died. She was 87.She was a chemistry teacher at EMHS. I looked her up in the yearbook and I did remember her. She looked so young. Probably just starting her teaching career.

Also the class of 66 is having a 50th reunion in October.

Have a happy, healthy New Year everyone!

Hi everyone...I trust you all had a great holiday season...I did...Family and friends always do it for me...I haven't been on the site for some time now ...I think the last time I was here was to report the passing of my best friend Pat Minogue...Unfourtunely I have more bad news ...David Lesser has passed away this week. I was told he was ill for some time and now he is in a better place....Its funny that I can remember cutting class with Pat and going over Davids house to hang out...We would go down his basement and listen to Crosby Stills Nash and Young at full volume...I got a few rides in his Vette and he would love to scare me with his power shiffs flying down Sun Rise High Way in front of Green Acres...No seat belts ...no air bags ...and drum breaks..speed was the thing back then and every body wanted to go fast..He could tell i love it and thats how we would spend a Friday night...Well low and behold time passes and we all lose touch with our class mates..I was with Pat when he was having his house built in Suffork and there was vacant lots around his property but my wife at that time didn't want to leave Nassau sooooo......Guess who moved in down the block from Pat   thats right  David   small world....so we were back in touch...i dont have any other details about the arrangements but i just thought i would let you guys know....Rest in peace my friend

So sad to hear more bad news, Angelo, but thanks for passing it along.  Your memories are sweet..   The frieindships we developed as teens are special and the things we did as teens, we now look at as a bit crazy.  I think we are all agetting to that point where we reflect on our lives and are happy and proud of what we made of ourselves, no matter what path we took or where we ended up.. We  need to cherish each current moment.  I don't know about you all, but I am gearing up for our 50th.  I know we don't all keep in touch with all those have whom we have crossed, but the time at EHS was special because the people were special.  Love to you all.

So sorry to hear about David.  Dennis and I saw him a few years ago in town.  We talked and laughed about high school, family, and friends.  He was a good person.

So damn sad to read about everyone's passing....and Bruce Hyman's memorail servie was last Sunday, talk about a big bummer.  He was pretty much my best friend for the last 10-15 years.  The finality of death is pretty mind blowing.   Let's get together soon.......be well, be strong

The memories I have of both Bruce and David feel like events that happened yesterday.

Bruce and I were honored at Alden Terrace Grade school, with a girl (I'm not recalling her name - anyone have a clue?) to be together in the "Art Club". We big shots got to leave class periodically to work on posters or whatever projects they had for us great artists. I know we all felt very special. There are many other memories I have of Bruce through the years; he really was a great guy and all the remembrances are positive. I have great respect for his psychological work on compulsive behavior and regard him as someone who helped improve our world.

David was also special. We, along with our other good friend Pat Minogue and George Suitlich, were all born on February 11, 1950. I would never tire of lording over Pat, that as I was born at 12:05 AM, was therefore older. Age certainly commanded a certain measure of respect, at least theoretically. The conversation Pat, David and I had in 1970 about our recently arrived draft notices was one I will never forget. I believe we did our discussing while enjoying the chunk of hashish David brought. He always seemed to have great hash in those days.

I know David greatly enjoyed selling wedding gowns to all the beautiful young brides. I suppose if there is a heaven he'll have the bridal gown shop ( hey, and maybe some great hash too).

Wherever these guys have all gone (and as my youngest daughter is getting her PHD in Buddhist philosophy, I have some rather strong ideas on this subject), maybe we should think about a reunion in the next world as well.

In the meantime, I look forward to whoever of us is still in this one and makes it to our gathering in 2018

Be well, all.

Frank,  you had me laughing with your post.  It helped I am sure for several classmates to deal with the sadness with happy memories.  Thanks for sharing.  Stay well

I too am saddened by the loss of our classmates and appreciate the memories that were shared by all.  The 50th is not so far off.....it will be good to see you again.

I have not commented on this post, but the passing of Bruce brings back memories, from both of us playing Flintsone charaters at Alden Terrace to becoming Ranger Hockey fans, and taking the E&F train to the "old" Madison Garden We even built some hockey goal cages and played on the tennis courts, some of my best memories of high school. We were best of friends but lost touch after high school as happens in life.

I would like to add my name to those who posted regrets at the passing of Bruce Hyman and David Lesser. Life is fleeting. I was very good friends with Bruce in public school. We used to take the bus to Alden Terrace from the stop near his house. We did lose touch throught the years but reconnected when I moved to Florida in '14. I remember hanging out in David's basement senior year, listening to Crosby, Stills and Nash and Cream. That was a good memory. Remember David's jacked up white car? He was the only Jewish kid I knew who did that. He was "cool."

David was the first person to help me find my house from school after moving to Elmont in the sixth grade. I rode in circles until he showed me which street to stop at. He is also where I would get my Red Lebanese hashish, freshly wrapped in cheese cloth. Fond memories.

RIP Bruce and David. It's somewhat sad to think that we have reached a point where we are going to start to lose more and more. Our 50th reunion might be the most important one of all. I realize that it is still relatively early but does anyone know if anyone has agreed to work on it? Once again, RIP Bruce and David. You are both in a better place now sitting next to God.

If anyone knew Hollis VanArsdell~~ She passed away July 20th ~~survived by her husband Jim and 2 daughters. She was a student in Elmont until she moved away in her Senior Year so she did not graduate with us but I know many of you knew her. She had survived from brain surgery but a week later she passed from heart failure. She fought a tough battle but unfortunately lost. RIP  Hollis

Thank you for posting this Cristine. I had reconnected with Hollis through Facebook a few years, and was shocked and saddened by the news, especially after following her recovery from surgery and release from the hospital. My memories of Hollis date back to playing with her as kids. She will be missed.

Cris, thanks so much for publishing the news about Hollis. She and I had reconnected recently but I became super involved with my own family issues. Hadn't heard from her in quite a while. Now I know why. I should have reached out to her. So hard to believe she's gone. Hope she is now at peace. That's what she deserves. Carol Bernhardt Patoka
