Mike Davis - Class Of 1969 VIEW PROFILE

Mike Davis

Date Deceased: 12-2007

Classmate City: Sammamish
Classmate State: WA

Classmate Country: USA

Survived By: Brothers, Roger and Dwayne. Mike also had a sister, Gloria class of 1970.

A true warrior, Mike served our country in Vietnam and later became an Officer with the Garden Grove Police force (while achieving a black belt in Karate). Mike was one of the most outstanding tracksters in southern California while at GGHS. I remember when he was asked to help in a mile relay race, leading off the GGHS team at an Invitational track meet at Santa Ana College. Mike (a two-miler) ran his quarter mile segment, bringing the baton around in first place. He truly was the "Rocky" of our 69 class, a good and loyal friend we'll always remember.

I am very sorry to hear of Mike's passing and wish well for his family. I ran Cross Country with Mike and he was the cool, hard running champion that I (a year younger) looked up to. After all, he drove a...hemi barracuda? I drove a Rambler. Enough said. We connected though, we played handball a lot at GGHS and he was a great guy, he was a true athlete but had a lot of depth as well. I will miss him.

Wow! I'm so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. It has been very interesting and sobering to see how many of our classmates have already passed on. This one hits home more than some because the Davis family lived up the street from our family on Diane St. It sounds like Mike made great contributions to the community and our country. What a wonderful legacy he left behind. My heartfelt sympathy goes to his family.

I'm pretty sure Mike passed in December of 2001, not 2007. I got to know Mike after high school, when he returned home from Vietnam. He came home to his family and to his new Hemi 'Cuda. Mike was the most dedicated, hard working guy I've ever known. As in track and cross country, he excelled at everything he went after.

Here's toasting you, brother Mike.
