Date Deceased: Feb-2020

Survived By: Husband Tim Dreyer and brother Danny Distefano

I was notified that JoAnn passes away peacefully in her sleep after suffering from debilitating Multiple Sclerosis for many years which prevented her from practicing her vocation of a school nurse. As a small child my family lived next door to Jo and her family on Delta Street in Garden Grove and we continued to be friends through high school where we performed on the Drill Team together.

Karol McGill (Benner) (1969)

I went to elementary school with Jo.  We met again in our thirties and continued our friendship till the end.  She had a colorful, fun personality, enjoyed theater, concerts ( she was quite an accomplished pianist herself), and travel.  She started her career as a very capable ER nurse, then went into medical sales, medical insurance, and finally, to get a pension- into school nursing.  Although it was so sad to see her lose her physical abilities with MS, she amazed me at how strong and determined she remained.  Her husband and family were supportive.  Even to the end when it was difficult to go places with her, she spent a lot of time finding wonderful videos on the computer ( with her little dog Abby faithfully on her lap) to send to friends.  She shone a light in  my life- I miss her terribly.
