John learned how to fly helicopters around 1983. He was partners in a company that utilized the helicopter for wild animal study. In his earleir flying career, he flew the helicopter searching for tuna in Central and South America. His work involved mostly dangerous very low altitude flying, which he found to be much more exciting. I still remember cruising around in John's old rusty hot rod. We never went too fast in it because the front end would start shaking at around 50 mph ! We did some crazy things in our youth. John was always up for adventure, he would have lived no other way.  KM
