Dave Anthony, Band and Orchestra Teacher during our High School Years, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2014  after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease. His memorial service will be at 3:00 PM Wednesday January 22, 2014 at Pacific View Memorial Park, 3500 Pacific View Dr., Newport Beach 92663. Mr Anthony, as I remember him, was a task master on the field - single-handedly whipping dozens of high school kids into a cohesive marching band. He was tireless in rehearsal, having us repeat passages over and over until we played in real harmony. 

But my personal favorite memories of Dave Anthony ocurred in the afternoons and lunch hours when he would sit in the bandroom on piano or snare drum or bass and jam with Jeff Janke, Phil Tennerelli, and others. In those un-planned, unscripted moments he shared his gift and love of music in a way that showed us - really taught us, that music had so much to offer to all of us.
